Earlier this week, news broke that actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson had tested positive for COVID-19. The pair received their diagnoses in Australia, where they are now recovering at the Gold Coast University Hospital in Queensland.
Since then, their diagnoses have been consistently in the headlines, with some speculating that the Simpsons actually predicted Tom Hanks would get COVID-19. Then there was this selfie which Hanks shared from hospital, which left Australian fans "disturbed".
In the video below, Tom and Rita's son, Chet, opens up about his parent's "crazy" diagnoses:Now, Wilson has taken to social media to reveal that she is currently looking for suggestions for a Spotify self-quarantine playlist, and her 451,000+ Twitter followers were more than happy to inundate her with suggestions.
"Hi guys! I want to make a @Spotify playlist for people self quarantining," Wilson, 63, tweeted on Friday.
"Something that might relate to isolation, perhaps? Can you send some song ideas that I can add? Also, what should we call it? Quarantine Choruses? This is what one does in quarantine. U think of stuff like this."
One fan suggested the following songs: "'Don't You Forget About Me' 'Time After Time' 'Surrender' (cheap trick) 'Too Much Time on My Hands' 'Ooh Child' 'Here Comes the Sun'."
A second wrote: "Dancing with myself - Billy Idol. Who doesn't love a good Billy Idol song!"
Meanwhile, a third appropriately suggested: "The Police 'Don't stand so close to me'."
A fourth wrote: "Dancing with myself."
And, of course, someone made a suggestion which was very appropriate to Wilson and Hanks's situation, writing: "'Just the Two of Us' Grover Washington Jr."
Eventually, Rita's project was complete, and the Spotify playlist 'Quarantunes' was born.
The playlist features 32 songs and has a playing time of just over two hours. You can check it out on the streaming platform by clicking HERE.
Classics like Eric Carmen's 'All By Myself' and The Beatles' 'I'm So Tired' are guaranteed to make being quarantined that little bit more bearable.
Hanks was in the process of filming the as-yet-untitled Elvis Presley biopic Baz Luhrmann when he and Wilson fell unwell.
He announced that he had the illness on social media, writing: "Hello, folks. @ritawilson and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive."
Hanks continued: "Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hankses will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We'll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!"
Two days ago, Hanks provided another update, writing to his 7.8 million Instagram followers: "Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness.
"We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx"
Hopefully, the quarantine playlist suggestions on Twitter will help to keep the couples' spirits up as they recover.
