Tom Hanks's wife Rita Wilson has opened up about some of the adverse side effects that she's suffered from after testing positive for coronavirus.
The couple first broke the news about their COVID-19 diagnosis on Instagram at the beginning of March, uploading a photograph of a rubber glove lying in a trash bin.
The actor's son has spoken out about his mom and dad's diagnosis on his Instagram:Tom Hanks captioned the post: "Hello, folks. @ritawilson and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive."
He continued: "Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated."
Per Sky News, in an interview with Gayle King on The Talk, Wilson spoke about her experience with the virus for the first time since leaving quarantine, stating: "I felt extremely achy, uncomfortable, didn't want to be touched, and then the fever started."
She also added that she had a fever of 39 degrees Celsius and that she was placed on a course of the drug chloroquine, which is typically used to treat malaria.
Per HuffPost, Wilson said the treatment's “extreme side effects” left her feeling “completely nauseous".
She added: "I can only tell you that I don't know if the drug worked or if it was just time for my fever to break, but my fever did break. My muscles felt very weak. I think people have to be very considerate about that drug. We don't really know if it's helpful in this case."
