Rumours that British actor Tom Hardy is set to be the next 007 have gathered steam this week after a report on entertainment blog The Vulcan Reporter.
According to the site, Hardy is set all set to replace current incumbent Daniel Craig in November after the release of the latest instalment in the franchise, the highly anticipated “No Time To Die”.

Hardy has long been at the top of many fans’ wishlists to play the iconic British spy, touted alongside the likes of Idris Elba and Tom Hiddlestone.
In fact, back in 2018, previous Bond Pierce Brosnan went so far as to endorse Hardy directly as the ideal actor to take over the mantle, telling the Daily Mail newspaper:
“Daniel Craig has been an incredible Bond. He’s very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man.
“He’s complained about doing the part because he’s put himself through a lot physically, but he will do the next movie, and then I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it, that’s what makes Bond.”

News of Hardy’s supposed casting has been received extremely well on social media. One fan enthusiastically declared on Twitter:
“I would watch Tom Hardy peeling potatoes tbh, so if he is the new James Bond Issa wrap for my ovaries as I fear they may actually implode.”
Another went so far as to claim, “This might be the only good news I’ve heard in 2020.”

Bond fans are still anticipating the release of the much-vaunted “No Time To Die” after the film was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Daniel Craig’s final outing as Bond is now set to hit screens on the 12th of November.
Though there’s no way of knowing exactly when his replacement will be announced, this latest rumor will certainly make the next few months extra exciting for 007 fans.
