Tom Holland believes that the next actor to portray Spider-Man should be a woman.
Speaking to People, the 25-year-old actor reflected on his time spent portraying the world's most famous web-slinger following the runaway success of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Offering his thoughts on what could be next for the franchise, Holland wasted no time calling for a more diverse cast.

"I've loved every minute of it. I've been so grateful to Marvel and Sony for giving us the opportunity and keeping us on and allowing our characters to progress. It's been amazing," he said.
"I don't want to be responsible for holding back the next young person that comes in who deserves it just as much," Holland said.
"I would love to see a future of Spider-Man that's more diverse - maybe you have a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman. We've had three Spider-Mans in a row; we've all been the same. It'd be nice to see something different."
"And that's why for me, I don't want to say goodbye to Spider-Man - but I feel like we might be ready to say goodbye to Spider-Man."

If this is to be the end of Holland's reign as Peter Parker though, it's come at the right time. Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently confirmed to The New York Times that there's a fourth Spider-Man movie in the works.
It's also confirmed that Disney and Sony are "actively beginning to develop where the story goes next."
Elsewhere in his interview, Holland revealed that he might be "ready to say goodbye" to the friendly neighborhood superhero and focus on his personal life instead.

Admitting he wants to take a break and start a family, Holland said: "I've spent the last six years being so focused on my career."
"I want to take a break and focus on starting a family and figuring out what I want to do outside of this world," he added.
The actor added that he can't wait to be a dad, saying he loves kids so much that if he wasn't an actor, he'd probably be a schoolteacher instead.
