Tony Ferguson has taken to social media to show off his swollen and bruised face after his UFC 249 beating.
The sportsman sustained the injuries while competing against Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 for the interim Lightweight title in front of an empty VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, with the winner going on to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov.
However, during the fight, Ferguson suffered a brutal and bloody loss.
Sharing a picture of his beaten and bruised face on Instagram, Ferguson appeared to be in good spirits and can be seen attempting to smile in the snap which he captioned: "Love You Babygirl. Thanks For Taking Care Of Me. #HappyMothersDayToots."
Ferguson then went a step further and shared a video of himself dancing in the hospital.
The 36-year-old captioned the amusing clip: "'Recovery Dayze' When You're About To Get Discharged From The Hospital #LetMeOut."
Watch the beaten star dance below:Despite clearly being in the process of recovering from the fight, Ferguson then took the time to congratulate his opponent.
Writing on Twitter, Ferguson said: "'Bushido Code' Brought Sports Back W/ Class # WayOfTheWarrior Win or Lose Always Act Like A Champion Just Wasn't My Night Congrats @Justin_Gaethje On A Good Fight -CSO-."
After the bloody defeat, Khabib told Ferguson that he had nothing to be ashamed of and urged him to keep his head up.
He wrote: "Whatever happened is in the past. Heads up Tony, I hope everything is good with you and your family. When your son grow up, he'll be proud with you."
The fight was is one of a few sporting events that have been permitted to go ahead during the pandemic, and this has been with the condition that the broadcast team sits at a distance from fighters, and that post-match interviews are also conducted at a distance.
In a discussion with fellow commentator Daniel Cormier, Ferguson explained how he sustained his injuries.
Joe said: "At least they let me do the post-fight interviews in the Octagon, they were going to make me do it from two yards."
Daniel replied: "You threw a fit before the show. This is insane we were all tested. We were all clean."
Rogan added: "Everyone's been tested and they wanted me to interview fighters from like 50 feet away and I was like I can't, I want to see them, I want to look in their eyes."
