A British broadcaster has revealed that late Harry Potter star Rob Knox's murder will be made the subject of a new documentary about knife crime.

As reported by Variety, Woodcut International has boarded (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story which follows the tragic death of the 18-year-old, who was stabbed and killed just days after filming his role in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

The young actor played Marcus Belby, a member of the 'Slug Club' who Harry dines with. He ended up appearing in the beloved movie posthumously.

The film will examine the issue of knife violence in the UK and will include interviews with castmates Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, and Tom Felton - as well as archive interviews with Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

Knox was murdered by 22-year-old Karl Bishop - who was charged and sentenced to 20 years in prison - in south-east London while protecting his younger brother.

Before his untimely passing, the actor had appeared in Keira Knightley's film King Arthur and had reportedly been signed up to continue his role as Marcus Belby in the Potter franchise.

The powerful documentary - which will be directed by Aaron Truss and exec-produced by Joe Acre - will be delivering a strong anti-knife crime message by taking a closer look into Knox's life before his sudden death, showing the police inquiry into the case and the eventual conviction of his killer.

In addition to this, Variety shared that the Rob Knox Foundation - which is a charity set up in the actor’s honor - will also produce alongside Nick Kenton and exec producer Koulla Anastasi for Woodcut International.

"We at the Rob Knox Foundation are extremely happy to be partnering with Woodcut International and look forward to our journey together," Truss said.

"Not only have Woodcut been involved with some great documentaries like 'Damilola: Death of a Ten-Year-Old,' but they also understand the need for a film like this in today’s society," he continued. "Knife crime especially in the U.K. is worse than ever, so we hope that this film will make an impact on people’s attitudes towards this horrific culture.”

According to Hello Magazine, at the time of Bishop's sentencing, Mr. Justice Bean said: "You are at present a highly dangerous man. There is plainly a very significant risk to the public of serious harm caused by your committing further specified offenses of violence.

"I do not think it is proved that you intended to kill Robert Knox. The truth is that you simply could not care less whether you killed him or not… When you learned that you had killed Rob your only response was to say, 'Yeah sweet.' Your lack of regret, let alone remorse, was truly chilling," he added.

The publication also added that after the actor's death, Daniel Radcliffe wrote a heartwarming letter to him which read: "Dear Rob, We are all proud to have known you and devastated to have lost you. It is terrible just to write this note. Rest in peace, Dan xxx."

Rupert Grint also penned a touching letter to his co-star, writing: "Rob, It was an honor to have known you and whenever I’m on the Southend strip I’ll be thinking of you. Rest in peace mate."

The documentary (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story will be released on ITVX on February 23.
