Elton John wowed the crowd at Glastonbury this year, with many left speechless at the number of people he drew in for his performance.

Glastonbury is arguably the jewel in the crown of music festivals in the UK, with every budding musician dreaming of playing a set there.

According to the Guardian, around 200,000 people headed to Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset this year to take in bands such as Guns N' Roses and Arctic Monkeys.

Headlining the Sunday night this year was the legendary singer, Elton John - in what he has stated could be his final live performance in the UK.

It seems that the chance of getting to belt out bangers such as 'Your Song' and 'Rocket Man' and the thought of it being the last chance to see the singer meant that many people showed up.

Festival goers flocked to the pyramid stage in their thousands - in fact, according to the BBC, the crowd was estimated to be 120,000 strong.

"I never thought I'd play Glastonbury - and here I am," Elton said while taking in the crowd. "It's a very special and emotional night for me as it may be my last show in England, in Great Britain. I'd better play well and I'd better entertain you because you've been standing there so long."

He's not wrong, as some people reportedly started waiting in line at 4:00AM to ensure they were at the front for their favorite singer - to put that in perspective, Elton took to the stage at 9:00PM.

Those fans then stood at the front for the entire day, watching every set happen - and before you ask, I have no idea what they do when they need the toilet either.

Especially because if they left the crowd, the chances of fighting their way back to the front were incredibly slim - which has been magnified by social media users who were left stunned at the size of the audience.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "One of the iconic #Glastonbury photos. I've watched this for years and NEVER seen as big a crowd as Elton John has. Wow!"

A second added: "The crowd for Elton John is absolutely insane," while a third concluded: "I would bet my life that Elton John is gonna be the biggest ever crowd at Glastonbury. It is insane on the pyramid stage already."

Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones are said to have attracted a crowd of over 100,000 to their Glastonbury set, but it's looking likely that Elton has topped them.

We'll wait eagerly to see the final statistics, but gaining the biggest-ever crowd at the Pyramid Stage would be an incredible way for Elton to sign off.
