An uplifting video in which a long line of Philadelphia voters are seen dancing to DJ Casper's 'Cha Cha Slide' as they wait to cast their ballots has been shared online.
Per BuzzFeed News, it is part of the work by Nelini Stamp, 32, the director of strategy for the Working Families Party and the campaign director for the Election Defenders.
The Election Defenders is a nonpartisan coalition with the aim of ensuring that voters are "staying safe and healthy outside of polling places across the country and bringing them some joy."

Stamp told BuzzFeed News:
"Because voter suppression has been rampant for years, because there has been so much in the media and so much out there about white supremacists and militia intimidation tactics, we figured that this was a year to make sure that people felt motivated to go vote and not feel unsafe. Especially in the middle of a global pandemic."

Needless to say, plenty of people were delighted by the clip, which was shared on Twitter.
One person wrote: "I love this. I wish I could jump in and dance WITH them!!!! Joe's supporters are WAY COOLER than that other guy's."

Another Twitter user added: "I’m going to watch this five more times and then sleep with a smile on my face. I wanna vote with y’all!"

Aside from the organizations' "Joy to the Polls" aspect of their work, they also conduct weekly voting training for thousands of people in all states. This includes sharing de-escalation tactics if voters feel they are being intimidated at a polling site.
Music is a kind of de-escalation, Stamp said, because "it centers the mood in something else."
"However, we wanted to do something good for those people [standing in line]," she said.
"And it felt really good that that person and those folks who saw. Whether it was the Cha Cha Slide or the Wobble or people doing the Electric Slide, it at least brought them some joy and some relief in a process that wasn't meant for us, especially Black and brown people."
