If you've experienced an embarrassing moment during a video conference, then don't worry - because Wales' Health Minister has just outdone everybody's collective 'work-from-home nightmare'.
Now, I'm sure we've all moaned about a co-worker behind their backs - but as Vaughan Gething has proven; working from home has posed some new challenges when it comes to bitching about a colleague. The main issue you'll face is making sure your microphone is turned off.
While taking part in a Zoom meeting, Gething left other members of the meeting stunned when he was overheard bad-mouthing Welsh Assembly member for Cardiff Central Jenny Rathbone, asking: "What the f**k is the matter with her?"
Other participants in the call can then be heard shouting "no" as they try to drown out Gething's continuing tirade. In the video, presiding officer Elin Jones swiftly instructed Gething to turn his microphone off.
You can see the unfortunate moment in the video below:As you can see from the video, some laughed, others sat with their hands covering their mouths, and others simply sat back like a deer in the headlights as the car crash continued.
Following Gething's select words, Ms Rathbone, who was asking questions regarding the Welsh Government’s response to coronavirus, stood up from her chair and walked away from the camera.
In a tweet following the Zoom call, Gething said: "I’m obviously embarrassed about my comments at the end of questions today. I’ve sent a message apologising and offered to speak to @JennyRathbone if she wishes to do so. It is an unwelcome distraction at a time of unprecedented challenge."
As a result of the blunder, Adam Price - the leader of the Welsh opposition party Plaid Cymru - called for Gething to be sacked:
Price wrote in a series of tweets:
"The Welsh Health Minister aggressively attacking his own party colleague who was raising legitimate concerns raised by a Welsh Nobel Prize winner shows why he is not the man for this vital job. To maintain public confidence he surely has to go.
"The swearing is forgivable, what isn’t is the utter contempt which the Health Minister has shown towards scrutiny. Coupled with dire failings on PPE and testing the Health Minister should resign so that the Government can regain the trust of the people at this crucial time."
