The Trumps don't really have the best track record when it comes to tweeting, do they? President Donald Trump has caused international outrage in the last month or so, first of all by retweeting racist snuff films from a right-wing extremist party, and then by agitating the delicate situation in North Korea by taunting Kim Jong Un with a never-ending game of "my nuclear button is bigger than yours".
His eldest son, Donald Jr., has also had his fair share of social media faux pas, and was ridiculed back in November for exploiting his daughter in a (failed) attempt to demonstrate the impracticality of socialism. The only things he actually succeeded in proving with this tweet were that he doesn't know the difference between "to" and "too", and - more worryingly - that he can't recognize a blatant example of capitalism when staring him in the face.

And now it seems that Eric Trump has jumped on the bizarre tweet bandwagon, too.
Last night, President Trump's other adult son posted a screencap of Twitter's "here's who you should follow" recommendations for him. They were: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Ellen Degeneres. And, considering he is clearly someone with a keen interest and involvement in politics and popular culture, this doesn't seem too out of the norm.
After all, many people who follow the president (as Eric obviously does) will also follow Clinton and Obama, and, considering Ellen has nearly 77 million followers, it's likely that a lot of Trump Sr.'s followers are also fans of the talk show host.
However, Eric found the suggestions "shocking".

More than that, though, he hashtagged the post with "#DeepState".
If you're not familiar already, "Deep State" refers to a group of people who are influential members of a country or organization's government agencies, and who use their power to manipulate or direct official policy.
So, basically, Eric is implying that - somehow - the supposed secret government cronies are influencing his Twitter account... in order to get him to follow Ellen. Wow. Not the sort of thing I would be doing if I somehow had all this subversive power, but ok, Eric, whatever you say.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter found this hilarious.

And there are no prizes for guessing who might be influencing Eric on these notions, as President Trump has done a fair bit of tweeting about the "Deep State" himself.
Unfortunately for the Trumps, the most likely answer as to why Eric was getting these suggestions was either because he had seen a lot of their tweets recently via other people retweeting them or - funnily enough - because he had actively searched for them on the site before.
And yet, Ellen has been suspiciously quiet since Eric tweeted. Who knows, maybe she is a secret force behind the government? If she is, though, I'd have expected her to use her powers for something good by now. Like stopping the Trump family from having access to social media, for instance.
