An angry mother has spoken out after she was asked to clean up the mess that her son made in a restaurant, as she uses it as an opportunity to question society as a whole.

Kids are notoriously messy through no fault of their own because it's hard to explain the necessity of hygiene and cleanliness to an infant who can barely talk.

But with messy kids comes the age-old argument of whether it's the job of the staff at a restaurant to clean up after them or the duty of the parents.

One mother expressed her disbelief at a server asking her to clean the mess that her son made, all in an article on Kidspot.

The mother, accompanied by her husband and their 10-month-old son, attended an eatery in Melbourne, Australia, and of course, the infant is too young to know right from wrong.

As the child attempted to shovel food into his mouth, the majority of it ended up on the floor - which is something that most parents will be familiar with.

As the family's meal drew to a close and they began gathering their belongings, the mother couldn't help but notice a particular waiter who had been diligently attending to the many tables in the restaurant.

As the family prepared to make their exit, the waiter noticed the mess on the floor and requested that the mother help him clean it up. The mother, taken aback, candidly admitted: "I was mad."

Turning what appears to be a simple request into a deep dive into the goings-on of modern society, the mother wrote: "When did we start turning the other way to elements of life that don't affect us? When did our community decide kids and family were the less cool option and decide that supporting them was also 'uncool'?"

The mother continued: "Is it my job to get on my hands and knees and ignore that my child will not be soothed (my breast was the primary medicine for my teething child) and start cleaning the pasta with my own bare hands?

"Or is it the waiter's task who is paid to serve us (at a family restaurant) and support us to have a pleasant evening?"

She added: "I want my children to grow up in a community that looks after the vulnerable. The elderly and the innocence of children are included in this."

The mother questioned whether it is the sole purpose of parents to raise their children, or if it's the duty of the "community" to support each other.

To further her claims, she shared previous encounters including one where her child peed on the floor and was left bemused when she was asked to clean it up.

The pretty bizarre article found its way onto Reddit and people couldn't quite believe what they had read.

One person commented: "The kind of community she wants is where we all work together - except cleaning up after her filthy family - in that situation she wants someone else to do it!"

While a second added: "I hate when people make the fact that they chose to have kids everyone else’s responsibility."

Do you think that the mother has a point, or should she have cleaned up after her child?
