Mattel has launched a brand new Barbie doll modeled on former first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt.

The doll was unveiled amid Women's History Month on Wednesday, as part of the toy giant's "Inspiring Women" collection. It is also dressed in a long floral dress, pearl necklace, and black hat.

Roosevelt was the first lady of the United States during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office, from 1933 to 1945. She was an active member of the women's division of the State Democratic Committee.

As first lady, she went above and beyond by holding press conferences and writing a daily syndicated newspaper column known as "My Day," in which she wrote candidly about her own thoughts and opinions.

Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and global head of Barbie and Dolls at Mattel, shared the following statement with People magazine:

"We are delighted to welcome former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt to the Barbie Inspiring Women series and to shine a light on how her perseverance as a champion of policies around civil and economic rights made an impact on the world.

"As the number one global toy property, we believe in the importance of highlighting past and modern-day role models, like Eleanor Roosevelt, to inspire the next generation of changemakers to dream bigger than ever."

At the start of the year, the collection also honored author and activist Dr. Maya Angelou, singer Ella Fitzgerald, and Rosa Parks.

Mattel is also paying tribute to girls and women this Women's History Month by debuting its first "You Can Be Anything" digital series, which will provide interactive content for young girls.

The "You Can Be Anything" series will include live streams on Facebook and YouTube with appearances by upcoming Tinkerbell actress Yara Shahidi, as well as model Adwoa Aboah.

McKnight said the following regarding the series:

“With the virtual event space growing exponentially, we are leaning in with innovative online experiences authentic to our brand DNA, like the Barbie You Can Be Anything Series, to connect female role models who have broken boundaries with families and remind them that kids will become the leaders of tomorrow."

Selling for $29.99, the Eleanor Roosevelt-inspired Barbie is currently available at Walmart, Target, and Amazon.
