Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest of your life. Gone forever are your days of swiping through Tinder, now you've found "the one" and can take comfort in the knowledge that whatever life throws at you, you'll have your partner and best friend by your side. But, as we all know, for many, weddings result in more stress than happiness.
This is the result of a phenomenon known as the "Bridezilla". Having grown up with picture perfect fairy tales and dreams, women often fly off the handle at the slightest hint their big day won't be a direct reflection of their dream.
So, without further ado, here's a list of the most jaw-dropping Bridezilla stories Reddit has to offer.
[post_page_title]The Vegan Bridezilla[/post_page_title]
One bride may have taken this concept too far when she announced to Facebook that she intends to ban any friend or family member who eats meat from her big day.
The bride, who has chosen to be anonymous, asserted that she was tired of people trying to "guilt trip" her into inviting them to her nuptials, after she had made the no-omnivores rule clear when she started planning the wedding.
"When your ‘family’ tries to guilt trip you into letting them come to your fully vegan wedding, even though they’re omnivores," the bride wrote in a Facebook group for vegans, according to News.com.au. "Just for some context, some family members were told they are not invited to my wedding because we don’t want to host murderers. Our wedding is supposed to be one of the happiest days of our lives," she continued.

[post_page_title]The Backlash[/post_page_title]
Although members of the Facebook group were supportive of the fact the woman had opted for an all-vegan menu, they weren't wholly behind her decision to ban meat-eaters from the ceremony entirely.
"As a vegan, wouldn’t this be a prime opportunity to prove that vegan food can be just as delicious as omnivore food anyway?" commented one social media user, while another corroborated "I totally understand serving vegan food exclusively, that makes sense … but banning people and calling them murderers is just ridiculous."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Bride's Excuse[/post_page_title]
After taking note of the backlash, the bride elaborated on how her vegan diet had been an ongoing problem with her family. "They have consistently attacked me and my partner just for being vegan," she detailed.
"When I broke the news to them, all I got was attacked because I don’t want the weight of having people that still kill animals (the very beings we are trying to protect) at my wedding on my conscience. I’m sorry if that makes me 'rude' or a 'b*tch' because I’m not compromising the ethics that I share with everyone here."

[post_page_title]This Is What A Family Member Had To Say[/post_page_title]
Shortly after the bride's outburst, another Facebook user - whom people believe to be a member of the family - announced that despite being a bridesmaid, she had also been uninvited from the women's nuptials.
"I just got uninvited to a wedding that I was meant to be a bridesmaid for because I'm not vegan," she wrote. "To make matters worse, this girl is FAMILY who I've grown up with my whole life."
That's gotta hurt.

[post_page_title]The Bridezilla Who Was Upstaged By The Reaper[/post_page_title]
Births and deaths often happen at the most inconvenient of times. However, this is something which all reasonable people have come to accept. But not this bridezilla. Most definitely not this bridezilla.
"I had a friend that threw a temper tantrum, complete with screaming and foot stomping, because her grandmother had the audacity to die a few hours before her wedding," one Reddit user revealed. "She said it would throw off the seating arrangements, because now there would be a big empty space."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Pregnant Relative[/post_page_title]
Sure, it's only natural to imagine what your wedding guests will look like in your pictures long before they've been taken, but people change. Whether it's through choice, an accident, or something as natural as pregnancy.
But incredibly, one bridezilla wasn't standing for having a pregnant relative in her wedding pictures. "The bridezilla got furious and kicked her [relative] out of the wedding because she would be pregnant in the pictures," a Reddit user revealed.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Bridesmaid Who Dared Get A Haircut[/post_page_title]
Similarly, another bridezilla flew off the handle after one of her bridesmaids got a haircut without her consent... because apparently, that's a thing.
"So a few weeks before the actually ceremony I decided to knuckle cut off all of my hair because the heat was unbearable. When my friend, the bride, saw it, she was really upset with me because she envisioned all of the bridesmaids with updos (which I never knew about)," wrote a Reddit user.

[post_page_title]The Unpaid Flower Arranger[/post_page_title]
Many brides try to save money on their big days by cutting back costs wherever possible. However, the key word in this sentence is "their". It's no one's responsibility to create your dream day apart from, well, you.
"[The bride] planned on making all sorts of things for her wedding to save money (aisle runner, center pieces, arch, veil). I came into town the night before the wedding, and she says to me: 'I didn't have time to get anything made, so I need you to do it.' I stayed up all night sewing and arranging flowers while she slept."

[post_page_title]The Bride With A Big Request[/post_page_title]
Some brides put so much thought into how their pictures are going to look that they go as far as to ask their bridesmaids to change their appearance. Case in point...
"[The bride] demanded that all the girls dye their hair because she could be the only blonde one there," one Reddit user revealed.

[post_page_title]The Bride Who Flipped At An Interupption[/post_page_title]
While it's annoying when phones go off unexpectedly, it's simply a part of life in the modern world. Heck, it must even happen in funerals! And when it happened at this wedding, there was Hell to pay...
"My boyfriend's brother got married, and in the middle of the ceremony, the groom's phone alarm went off in his pocket," a Reddit user revealed. "The bride flipped out, interrupting the pastor, to reach into his pocket for his phone, that he had already silenced. She started bitching about how 'I can't believe you let your phone go off in the middle of our wedding.' Hands it to the maid of honor and says, 'Remind me to smash that later,' in the middle of her wedding."

[post_page_title]The Banned Fiancée[/post_page_title]
Sometimes the people we attend weddings with, particularly as plus ones, aren't in our lives for as long as we imagined, but that usually doesn't stop any reasonable person from banning them from pictures.
"I was in a wedding party and attended with my fiancée," a Reddit user wrote. "The bride refused to allow her to be in any of the informal friend and family photos, because, 'Well, these things don't always work out, and I don't want to have to guess who this person is 10 years from now.'"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Unreasonable Bachelorette Party Request[/post_page_title]
Aside from the wedding itself, one of the most anticipated events surrounding a person's nuptials is their bachelorette/bachelor party, and for some, this can be as extravagant as their wedding itself.
"My cousin had a screaming hissy fit because none of her bridesmaids could afford to attend her 'dream bachelorette party' in Vegas. (We're on the East Coast.)," a Reddit user revealed.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Perfect Flowers[/post_page_title]
Often the flowers chosen for a person's wedding have a special meaning. When I eventually make it down the aisle, I want a wildflower bouquet similar to the one my best friend had, but I won't throw a hissy fit if it's not possible.
"A girl I went to high school with threw a fit and nearly called off her wedding - because her florist couldn't find flowers that perfectly matched her lipstick," a Reddit user wrote.

[post_page_title]The Mother Of The Bride[/post_page_title]
If it's not a bride kicking off, it's likely to be their mother. After all, they've also spent a lot of time fantasizing about what their baby's big day will look like - and can have a worryingly astute eye for detail.
"Caterer. Mother of bride found a single spot on a knife on a single setting," a Redditor revealed. "Demanded that the entire reception ($60,000) be free. She was not writing the check so she was shot down pretty quickly. But there was much rage."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Another Unexpected Death[/post_page_title]
While you might think that the bridezilla exposed on Reddit for flipping out over an unexpected death was a one-off, it turns out that this has happened a worrying number of times before...
"I was my sister's maid of honor. During a peak planning time, our aunt - her godmother - passed away. I kept trying to get in touch with my sister all day that day. When I finally reached her, I explained I had been trying to speak with her all day to let her our aunt had died," a Redditor wrote. "I got blasted about how busy she is, and then she ripped into me about where I stood with my tasks."

[post_page_title]The Bride Who Couldn't Walk Down The Aisle Without Her Shoes[/post_page_title]
Every aspect of a bride's outfit is typically well thought out. From her underwear to her veil. However, there are some details which aren't exactly that noticeable... Like shoes, which usually aren't visible under her dress. But when this bride discovered that hers had gone walkabout, she point blank refused to get hitched.
"I sometimes work for a wedding planner at the event the day of. There was one wedding that I was working at that was humming along right on schedule. But about 45 minutes before the ceremony was supposed to begin, a bridesmaid grabbed me in a panic and told me the bride forgot her shoes. She told me that the bride absolutely needed her shoes," a Redditor wrote.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Entire Party Was Forced To Wait[/post_page_title]
So I asked where they were, she told me they were about an hour away," they continued. "The wedding planner talked to the bride and told her that no one would notice if she didn’t wear her shoes. The bride pitched a fit and made an uncle drive and get them. It took him about 2.5 hours to get them. The whole time, we were trying to convince the bride to start the ceremony and she refused.
"The worst part was that her family came from another Country and didn't really speak English so they had no idea what was going on at first. They got super restless and some people even left. We told the bride that people were leaving and she didn’t care, she just wanted her shoes. Everything was delayed by about an hour and half. People were pissed. By the time the reception rolled around about 50% of the people left the venue," the post concluded.

[post_page_title]The Wedding Planner's Tragedy[/post_page_title]
While the unexpected death of an elderly family member can be difficult to deal with, what's even more traumatic is the death of an infant - something which surely even the most callous of bridezillas would make a concession for. Right? RIGHT?!
"I'm a wedding planner. We had an unexpected death in the family. Our 6-month-old nephew had passed away in his sleep. I knew the funeral was going to be the day my client's upcoming wedding. I gave her a call to explain the situation. She's clearly not paying attention to the call or the words I'm speaking because I hear her laughing with friends in the background. I get irritated and tell her I’ll call her later. I call back that night and again tell her what has happened and that I'd be sending an assistant to cover for me so I can attend the funeral," a Redditor revealed.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]What The Bride Did Next Is Disgusting[/post_page_title]
As if not paying attention to this devastating news wasn't bad enough, the bride went one step further even when she realized that her planner had lost a close and very young family member.
"She tells me that I need to send my assistant to the funeral and that I better be at her wedding," the Redditor continued. "It took me a few seconds, but I calmly stated that I’d be sending her money back and that no one would be covering for me. Nicest way I’ve ever said f*ck off. I really wanted to bitch slap her."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Bride With Very Specific Requirements[/post_page_title]
As we've seen, there's a lot of controlling bridezillas out there, and while some we've seen so far have had specifications about their bridesmaid's hair, this one wanted to control their hair and their weight.
"My friend was a bridesmaid at a wedding where the Bride demanded that nobody cut their hair or gain any weight before the big day," a Redditor revealed. "All their hairstyles had to be the exact same length. She had to control every aspect of what they did. The maid of honor had enough of her behavior and dropped out of the bridal party a few weeks before the event. My friend only stayed because she felt sorry for her. The Bride didn't have any real female friends. I wonder why?"

[post_page_title]The Dry Wedding[/post_page_title]
We know from the vegan bridezilla that some couples insist on imposing their values on other people. However, as the old saying goes, you should always practice what you preach...
"Went to a wedding that was a dry wedding only," a Redditor revealed. "She refused to let anyone bring alcohol and the wedding was in the middle of nowhere. The wedding was several hours before the reception and there was absolutely nothing to do. There was no entertainment, no food, no drinks, etc. We had to wait for 4+ hours for them. Then the bridal party shows up and they had alcohol for themselves. Our entire group left."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Bridezilla With An Outrageous Question[/post_page_title]
A person's wedding might be the most important thing to them in the world at a particular time, but their guests have other fish to fry... Like, y'know, their own lives and dreams.
"More mother of the bridezilla but my sister in law and I were in a wedding (at the time I was her brothers gf)," a Redditor wrote. "SIL was considering getting pregnant around the time of wedding. MOB asks her, 'what's more important to you [her daughter’s wedding] or your pregnancy'. Bride did not stand up for her best friend her mom was being awful to. Various other terrible things happened during that wedding planning but that stands out the most. We’re not friends anymore [sic]."

[post_page_title]This Very Cheeky Couple[/post_page_title]
"Couple gets engaged right before New Years," a Redditor wrote. "Immediately had planned a wedding in Cancun for November. At the beginning of January, demanded to know not IF you'd be coming to their wedding, but the exact dates of your travel to/from Cancun. She texted EVERY SINGLE DAY for a week asking 'if we'd figured out our travel schedule yet.'"
"Turns out, it's a timeshare resort, excuse me 'vacation club' and they get a free night stay for everyone they con into going to their terrible wedding," the post continued. "So, all of their guests have to pay to go to Cancun, for their rooms at an all-inclusive resort and the couple is paying for nothing. "
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]This Story Actually Gets Worse[/post_page_title]
"She asked 16 girls to be bridesmaids," the Redditor wrote. "In the year and a half between the engagement and wedding, all but 6 dropped out (3 were her sisters). She wanted 16 separate shades of blue and 16 different styles of dresses for each bridesmaid then threw a fit when the store didn't have that many options."
"She demanded everyone pay for a week-long bachelorette party in Vegas (including her share) and then got mad when some people opted out (I was a single mom/college student at the time). Her parents gave her a $20,000 budget and she ended up spending $100k and demanding they pay for it- they took out a loan they are still paying off," the unbelievable post concluded.
Yikes. I have nothing more to add.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]Another Unsympathetic Bride[/post_page_title]
If there's one thing to be learned from these bridezillas, it's this: they seriously need to reassess their priorities when it comes to having a go at people for losing family members.
"My dad had the audacity to die 6 weeks before the wedding," a Redditor wrote, "and she couldn't understand why that superseded her wedding details for me. I met my husband at her wedding, haven't spoken to her since."
Oh well. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Bride Who Wanted People To Risk An Accident[/post_page_title]
If someone has a physical disability of any kind, no one is within their rights to tell them not to use whatever aids they need. But yes, a bridezilla actually went there.
"My ex-best friend was a trip. This story is just one of the many, many reasons I no longer speak to her," a Redditor explained.
"She tried to make me and another bridesmaid walk down her outdoor, uneven, tulle-covered aisle WITHOUT GLASSES. She told us the morning of the event, so we didn't have any time to get contacts or anything. She threw a near-hysterics fit because she was convinced that we would 'ruin the aesthetic of her wedding'."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]This Crazy Concession Was Then Made[/post_page_title]
"I told her that she would have a single groomsman walking that aisle if she made me walk without them," the Redditor continued.
"She started bawling but her mom was able to get her calmed down enough for her to agree to let us wear our glasses so we could actually make it down the aisle in one piece. (Her mom essentially said that she's more skinny and beautiful than either of us and no one would be glancing at her bridesmaids anyways because we aren't important)."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Bridesmaid Shouldn't Have Lost Weight[/post_page_title]
While most of the bridezillas on this list so far have been angry when their bridesmaids have changed their appearance for the worse, in their opinion, this bridezilla was actually annoyed when one of her bridesmaids adopted a healthier lifestyle and lost some weight.
"A friend of mine in college was getting married at 19 because she was super conservative Christian and she wanted to have sex," a Redditor revealed. "Between the time I agreed to be a bridesmaid and a couple of months before the wedding I lost some weight. She got super pissed at me because she wanted to be the skinny one on the stage and threw me out of the wedding party."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Worst One Yet[/post_page_title]
If you thought the brides who had no sympathy for guests who were recently bereaved, I'm afraid to say that this tale of monsters is far from over. In fact, it's about to get worse.
"Not a bridesmaid, but my mom was a wedding photographer for many years. Long story short, the father of the bride had a heart attack and as he was being carried out on the stretcher the sobbing bride yells, 'How could you ruin my wedding like this?!!!?'"
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Photographer Who Thought They Were Being Kind[/post_page_title]
"The last wedding I ever did, the bride had a huge zit on her forehead, which was just ruining everything. It was the end of the world. So, thinking I was being generous, I zapped it off in all of the photos in photoshop," a photographer wrote on Reddit.
"Cut to a few weeks later after I delivered them, I get an irate phone call saying that she couldn't believe I would edit off a zit. She wanted to remember the day as it was, not how it should have been. So I went through and restored all the zits..." they continued. "Weddings are too emotionally fraught to mix with business."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Frugal Bride With The Extravagant Wedding[/post_page_title]
"It was a best friend of mine who was very frugal, so I figured she was going to have a reasonable wedding and bachelorette party. I had shared my monetary concerns with her too - that I worked and went to school and couldn't take off much time. She didn't have that many friends so it was only me and one other girl as bridesmaids," a Redditor wrote.
"She asked us to hand-make ALL her decorations for the wedding (I put in 15 hours a week hand-making decorations, all outside of working and going to school full time)," the post continued.
Yikes! Like I've said, if you want a dream wedding on a budget, you have to work for it - not your guests.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Bride Who Didn't Care About Her Friends[/post_page_title]
"Then she planned a week-long bachelorette party out of town, also asking us to foot the bill, not to mention our dresses," a Redditor wrote of yet another bridezilla. "I wanted to find something affordable, but she picked designer dresses that we had to pay for...never worn it again."
"I spent nearly $1K on the whole ordeal, not to mention I did her hair and makeup for free for the wedding," they concluded.
Personally, I'd have pulled out by this point.
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Poor Bridesmaids[/post_page_title]
Unless you're extremely wealthy, chances are that your guests will at the very least have to pay for transport and new outfits to your weddings, but this wasn't something this bridezilla considered when selecting her bridesmaids...
"My sister had 10 bridesmaids. Most of them were her sorority sisters from college," a Reddit user revealed. "They wanted to plan an elaborate weekend for the summer, but most of them were still in school and unemployed. When I asked 'Hey, who will pay for this?' my sister got annoyed that I even asked."
[[pagebreak]]
[post_page_title]The Watery Whiskey[/post_page_title]
We've seen a lot of bridezillas and their unreasonable mothers, so it's only appropriate to end this article on an egalitarian note by sharing a story about a groomzilla!
"A drunk, screaming groomzilla screamed and pointed in my face (while his poor bride cowered behind him) because the venue ran out of Grey Goose at 11:45 pm," a Redditor revealed. "The wedding ended at midnight. I filled up an empty bottle with water are served it to him and his douchey friends."
