A McDonald's has gone viral for an apology note reading "nobody wants to work anymore."

The brutally honest note was directed at customers of a US branch, explaining why the fast-food restaurant was understaffed and how this could lead to delays with orders.

The sign was placed above the 'order here' instructions at the drive-thru and read: "We are short-staffed. Please be patient with the staff that did not show up. No one wants to work anymore."

It became public knowledge when a video of the sign was posted to TikTok by a user named Brittany Jade.

She captioned the post: "Y'all. Our McDonald's is savage AF."

Needless to say, the level of honesty on the yellow note went down a storm on the social media website, and at the time of writing, the TikTok has been viewed over 1.2 million times.

One TikTok user wrote a laughing emoji: "omg this will resonate with anyone who has ever worked in customer service."

A second added: "I don't blame them, at McD's if you do your job well, then you get promoted to do everyone else's job too! [sic]"

However, a third suggested that the reason people didn't want to work was because of stimulus cheques.

They wrote: "No one wants to work cuz They keep giving out stimulus [cheques] [sic]."

A fourth similarly chimed: "They make more money staying home why go back [sic]."

Meanwhile, another TikTok user suggested that the reason people didn't want to work at McDonald's wasn't the working conditions, but the ongoing pandemic.

They wrote: "You've made quite the mark spinning this but it's likely that these people are afraid of working at a place that exposes them to COVID. #WhatsTheFullStory"

A fifth suggested: "Maybe pay them more and upgrade protections in the workplace?

But overall, it's probably just down to the fact that after the year we've all had... nobody wants to work anymore.

So, the next time your fast food order is taking a little longer than expected, you might want to cut whoever is serving you some slack.
