Sexism. It’s a thing. Often times women are the targets of blatant sexual harassment, misogyny, and other nasty forms of toxic masculinity, especially in the entertainment industry. I mean, just how many scandals and hashtags have we lived through just in the past few years? And it is not just at the celebrity level. Every woman probably has a story to share, whether it is her own or that of someone she knows.
Now, the "Daily Male", a parody Twitter account, has released several posts that treat male celebrities with the same headlines that their female counterparts get to face on the daily. While the posts are in good humor and are making light of entertainment gossip columns, it’s hard not to see the double standards that are within our society for women when they’re being so hilariously pointed out to us.

How many times have we seen this phrase when it comes to celebrities and travel. Traveling is rough. It's a lot of long lines, long flights, and not so comfortable seats.

[/MediaContent]
People will always choose to dress comfortably for long flights. It just makes sense. Why do we feel the need to point out that fact?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Ben Stiller[/post_page_title]
The media loves to jump on the fresh-faced look of celebrities quite a lot. However, when it refers to the female celebs, the comments can sometimes be a little harsher.

[/MediaContent]
While Ben Stiller gets complimented for his "glow," we need to keep in mind that he's a guy. He's less likely to get called out for looking "tired."
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Al Pacino[/post_page_title]
Ah yes, the nip slip. It's the bread and butter of most celebrity gossip columnists. But why are we so focused on nip slips, particularly before they happen?
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1167757911583592454
[/MediaContent]
Women can wear open button shirts just like men. Why do we need to put out the fact that they have boobs? Men have boobs too!
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Sylvester Stallone [/post_page_title]
"Eye-popping display," gee - where have we heard that before? Oh, wait, just every headline ever when a female celebrity wears a top that is any other color other than plain white or black or grey.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1167477010572165127
[/MediaContent]
Since when did wearing color and going about your day become such a big deal? Can we all take Taylor Swift's advice and just calm down?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Leonardo DiCaprio[/post_page_title]
Nothing is worst than referring to a woman's legs - or in this case a man's legs - as "pins." Except of course, when you include a close up photo of said legs.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1166959630607687680
[/MediaContent]
Riding a bike around in shorts shouldn't be newsworthy, so why do you have to include a closeup photo? It's just people doing their own thing. Let's leave them be.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Ice T[/post_page_title]
Ok, this one is kind of funny. You can tell the Ice T is just having fun around town and knows he's been spotted.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1166400652626579457
[/MediaContent]
But again, how many other times have we seen headlines like these where the female celeb is just going about her day and yet we're commenting on how "seductive" she is. Something is wrong with that, don't you agree?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Samuel L. Jackson[/post_page_title]
Look at Oscar-nominee Samuel L. Jackson looking so cute in blue. Clearly, the focus is on the color chosen, as well as what decisions he's made about how to present himself outside in public.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1165926432385773568
[/MediaContent]
We often see this with female celebrities. The gossip columns tend to focus on what they're wearing and why. Who cares? While this is completely satirical, it does say something about how society treats women in the gossip columns. It's very superficial.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Matt Damon[/post_page_title]
"Leggy display," can there be any more of a cringe-worthy phrase? Maybe perhaps when it's preceded by an all caps "VERY" and its being used to discuss Matt Damon's shorts and sandals.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1165690253094596613
[/MediaContent]
Good for Jason Bourne beating the heat in something comfy. We all do it, can we not objectify it? When women are the ones wearing shorts and sandals its usually met with the same cringe-worthy phrasing. "Leggy display." Yuck!
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Arnold Schwarzenegger[/post_page_title]
Perhaps one of the most common headlines around these days, female celebs are always gaining media attention for the times that they go braless. It's always made to be a bigger deal than it actually is. Bras are uncomfortable, and if you can get away with not wearing one, then go for it.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1165178709785161728
[/MediaContent]
Men get to go braless all the time, as seen here. If the male nipple is not an issue when spotted under clothing in public, then why single out women's? No, seriously, someone tell me what the big deal is? Free the nipple.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Robert Downey Jr.[/post_page_title]
Robert Downey Jr. having enviable forearms is not newsworthy. In fact, anyone having great physical attributes isn't really what I call pressing news matters. Now, the Amazon burning down, yeah that's more newsworthy.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1165021453311496192
[/MediaContent]
Yet somehow, we see this time and time again. Women celebrities getting singled out for their physical features rather than their other attributes, like their charitable work, their actual work, etc. Can we just stop with the physicality of everything already?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Ricky Gervais[/post_page_title]
You know that this is definitely a spoof article because there is no mention of what Ricky is buying in the store. If this was a real news piece featuring a woman, they would be commenting on what she's buying.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1164533519542083584
[/MediaContent]
But by the looks of it, Ricky is buying something to quench his thirst. If it were a woman, there would probably be some kind of speculation about the specificities of her beverage choice. It must be tiring to be in the spotlight like that all the time.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Danny DeVito[/post_page_title]
He's got curves and swerves for days. At least that's the implication of him "pouring himself" into an outfit. Like "leggy display," "pouring" is another description that just sets my teeth on edge.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1164532813745573890
[/MediaContent]
We often see that same headline when it comes to curvy female celebs. Women with normal figures are suddenly "pouring" themselves into an outfit rather than just wearing whatever it is they chose to wear for the day. Can we just stop using that phrase? It sounds kind of gross.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Chris Evans[/post_page_title]
The catch-22: covering oneself and being modest is so prudish, but then it's scandalized when they let a little bit of skin show.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1164532668643647488
[/MediaContent]
Chris Evans is lucky he doesn't actually get talked about like this on the daily. His female celebrity counterparts? Not so lucky.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]David Walliams[/post_page_title]
It seems that Hollywood is obsessed with the novelty of white shirts showing off "assets."
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1164532372500615168
[/MediaContent]
There are so many times when we see female celebs in white shirts get hounded by the media for being "sexy." It's a basic white shirt. There is nothing sexy about it, and there are no assets being displayed. Let it go.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Chris Pratt[/post_page_title]
Body confidence. We're currently encouraging a more body-positive environment - in part no doubt thanks to the body positivity that is being spread by female celebs such as Lizzo. So yes, it's nice to see the media acknowledge body confidence.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1164531665886220288
[/MediaContent]
This phrase, however, sounds a little more sardonic in nature when it comes to the topic of body confidence. How many of those types of headlines have we seen regarding female celebs?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Piers Morgan[/post_page_title]
"Hides famous hourglass figure." We often hear such titles when discussing the Kardashians. Despite what we may think of the famous clan - I for one don't like them - there's no denying that they are often under the microscope as to their physiques.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1164531440941502465
[/MediaContent]
If anyone of them were to step out looking like Piers Morgan, there'd be no doubt that the media would be all over it. Especially since it's clear that Piers isn't wearing a bra.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Dwayne Johnson[/post_page_title]
A classic headline for female celebs: the cleavage flash. The media always likes to speculate on a little boobage. Can we just stop looking down shirts, period? Sometimes cleavage happens. It's part of nature.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1164531198137421824
[/MediaContent]
The Rock is rocking his cleavage with all the confidence. Man or woman, rock on and be confident.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Ryan Reynolds[/post_page_title]
Looking casual but cute while shopping is a staple of the headlines. It's basically the bread and butter for entertainment journalists and news media outlets. But is it really that important that people look cute while shopping? No.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/MaleOnline1/status/1164530990968123393
[/MediaContent]
So, if any of these headlines have got you thinking that this is just an overreaction, then maybe it's time to dial it back to 2016. Here are some of the wonderfully sexist from that clown car wreck of a year. However, the 'Daily Male' is just a parody account; what's even more shocking are the sexist headlines that papers like the Daily Mail have legitimately published.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]This Victim Blaming Headline[/post_page_title]
We all remember the train wreck that was 2016: Brexit, the first orange Cheeto elected as US president, literal clowns chasing people, the Dakota Access Pipeline - it truly was a horrible time to be alive. And this headline just adds to it.
Blaming the victim for her own rape and murder is the absolute worst thing you can do. It should never matter if a woman had one drink or five hundred drinks, her level of inebriation is in no way at all to blame for her rape and murder. Do you know who is to blame though? The offing creep who murdered her!
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]The Ups and Downs of Posh's Career[/post_page_title]
Victoria Beckham is one half of the power couple that is the Beckhams. While we love and admire that they seem to be one of the only couples in Hollywood that actually has a successfully functioning relationship, people need to remember that Victoria isn't just defined by her pairing in the duo.
Outside of the marriage, Victoria has had a very successful career of her own. She was one of the Spice Girls, plus she has her own fashion line. She's a boss in every sense of the word, and her career is much more than her breast size. To actually point that out as a "career up or down" is beyond insulting.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Rating the Breasts of Actresses at the Oscars[/post_page_title]
Rating a woman on her outfit is bad enough. But this is on a whole other level. Actually rating their breasts is a whole other level of horrible sexism.
It's the Oscars. Okay, yes, all eyes will probably be judging the dresses but can we stop there? Can we worry more about the actresses' work in film for the year rather than how great their cleavage looks in a dress or not? That shouldn't matter at all.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Olympic Athletes getting Judged for Leotards[/post_page_title]
Much like the previous post, there is no real reason to be judging what a person is wearing. And this is especially true of the Olympics.
The Olympics are about excellence in physical activities. The last thing that should be under scrutiny is what an Olympian is wearing. Shouldn't the real importance be placed on whether someone stuck to landing or not?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]The Chicago Tribune's Reference to Corey Cogdell-Unrein[/post_page_title]
Another sexist blow to the face was the way that the Chicago Tribune referred to Olympian Corey Cogdell-Unrein. It's an honor to get to the Olympics since only the best of the best get there.
And to win a medal, even the bronze, is an even bigger deal since it means you're the best of the best of the best. So it was a monumental moment for her to win the bronze. What was monumentally horrendous was the fact that she wasn't referred to by her name. Instead, the Olympian was referred to as "the wife of a Bears' lineman." Absolutely shameful.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Olympian Called Out for "Skimpy" Bikini[/post_page_title]
The Olympics actually gave us many sexist headlines. One of the others was when Michelle Jenneke was referred to as wearing a "skimpy" bikini.
Again, the Olympics is all about an athlete's skill, not what they are wearing. All runners have to wear shorts and a tank, it really shouldn't matter what it looks like on a woman. I mean, would they really be making a fuss over the men? The short answer is no.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Anything by Breitbart[/post_page_title]
"Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy." Can there be another disgustingly sexist headline out there?
Women are not unattractive and crazy for being on birth control. What makes us crazy is stupid sexist headlines like this. That's what'll make us crazy.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]The Sun's Obsession With Theresa May's Shoes[/post_page_title]
Theresa May became the British Prime Minister in 2016 after Brexit. While she voted to remain, she nevertheless undertook the horrible job of cleaning up the Brexit fiasco. She was certainly more important than being critiqued for her shoes.
What the real headlines should have been was how awful things were messed up by men that it took a woman to try to sort it out. Not what kind of shoes the female prime minister wears.
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Underwear vs Charity Work[/post_page_title]
Maisie Williams helped raise thousands for a charity. She attended that masquerade ball. That should have been the end of the headlines. Her charity work should have been center stage.
[MediaContent]
https://twitter.com/Maisie_Williams/status/739753580849160192
[/MediaContent]
Instead, what was made the focus was the fact she went braless. Who cares? Seriously, can someone tell me who cares?
[[pagebreak]][post_page_title]Hillary Clinton[/post_page_title]
For full disclosure, back in 2016, I was definitely feeling the Bern for president. At least until the June democratic primaries when, unfortunately, Bernie Sanders lost to Hilary. Regardless, was still much more willing to support her than the orange Cheeto.
There was something to be admired about Hilary though, she was determined and on her way to being the first female president. But all you saw on her campaign trail was her being criticized more for her fashion choices rather than her policies!
