Designer fashion is known for pushing the boundaries, but a new pair of Teletubby boots really do have to be seen to be believed.

The Internet could not believe its eyes last week after designer Christian Cowan unveiled his latest collection, inspired by the Teletubbies.

The British children's TV show became a favorite with kids after debuting in 1997, even going on to be nominated for two Daytime Emmys and winning multiple BAFTA Awards.

And for those Teletubby fans nostalgic for this particular slice of their childhood, there's a pair of boots to cater to that - if you have a cool £2,092 ($2,500) spare.

Designer Cowan unveiled the green boots as part of his new Teletubbies collection, modelled on the character Dipsy.

The boots are a pointed toe, stiletto-heeled, and made of green felt material - which horrifyingly also has some mutilated Teletubby body parts sewn onto it too.

Dipsy's head stands proudly atop the leg of the boot while the character's arms reach out ahead hauntingly.

There's no word if this particular style comes in Tinky Winky purple, Laa-Laa yellow, or Po red for those who had another favorite character.

As well as the Dipsy boots, the collection also includes T-shirts, hoodies, and denim jackets, and jeans screen printed with photos of models posing with the Teletubbies characters.

But really all anyone is talking about is the footwear, of course.

After the outlandish boots were revealed, fans took to social media to share their thoughts.

One wrote: "i want those f**king teletubby boots so bad", while someone else added: "idk, i’m kinda feeling those teletubby boots lol they’d be cute for Halloween."

Another commented: "lime green 3D teletubby boots? this is what life is about."

One fan rightfully pointed out: "I mean, if you *must* skin something to make boots, a Teletubby is a humane option."

While they may be a tough look to pull off (after all, where exactly does one wear a lime green Dipsy boot and what kind of outfit does it go with?) if there's anyone that could do it, it would be none other than Paris Hilton.

Just as well that she's a big fan, as she commented on the post: "Need!"

The Teletubbies first aired in 1997 in the UK, where it was deemed to have reached "cult status" in less than a year, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

The show went on to have huge success worldwide, airing in over 120 countries and in 45 languages, including being broadcast on Nick Jr. in the US.

Aimed at pre-schoolers, the Teletubbies ended up spawning a sought-after toy range, which was the most popular Christmas toy of 1997, leading to parents fighting to get hold of one for their child, as well as shops rationing them to one per customer as demand vastly outstripped the supply.

We wonder if the Dipsy boots will cause quite such a clamor - though with that price tag, it's only going to be accessible to those with loads of money to burn.
