Everyone loves a divisive optical illusion - especially the ones that spark viral debates online.

The latest baffling image has left people wondering whether they're seeing a dog or a man.

It's not every day that we're unable to differentiate between members of two completely different species. But just take a look at the photo yourself, and perhaps you might empathize.

While some say the image depicts a man with a rucksack walking through a snowy forest, others are only able to detect a black pooch running towards the camera.

A Twitter user, who goes by Clark P Davidson, posted the image on the platform, writing: "I totally saw a man running into the woods. Until I looked again. Do you see it?"

The tweet has since gone viral with over 108,000 likes, more than 13,000 retweets, and 1441 quote tweets.

A number of people have chimed in with their thoughts on the matter, with one person writing: "This messes with my head. Once you see the dog you can’t not see it. First glance though, just the man."

Others explained the confusion by pointing out that the "backpack" belonging to the "man" appears to be a dog's face.

One wrote: "Oh my god, he’s got a Dog’s head on his back, that’s horrifying...."

Another agreed: "Yes, the man is wearing a dog face rucksack."

Those who insisted the being was a dog argued: "You must be seeing things. Of course - it's a big dog running towards camera."

And this person agreed the picture was of a pooch, writing: "Aside from the fact it’s a dog, the only give away that it’s not a man running into the woods is what would be the man's left leg given it’d never bend that way. Unless the man is David Buust."

Yet another said: "It is a dog. Not a man. If it was a man his left leg cannot bend like that. Problem solved."
