A woman has gone viral on social media after revealing how much she made after an hour's work as a DoorDash driver.

TikTok user Tiana - who goes by the handle @tiana.com - has shared a video giving people on the social media platform an insight into her job as a food delivery worker.

At the beginning of the video - which has an overlay text that read "doordash w me for one (1) hr" - Tiana started by explaining to her followers that she plans to start work at 6:30 PM.

"Hey it's currently 6:30, I'm gonna DoorDash right now and let's see how much money we make," she says. "First, order $8.75 picking up from some random restaurant that I don't know."

Check out Tiana's TikTok below:

The employee was first seen standing outside a closed restaurant until she realized it was the wrong place and quickly made her way to the correct diner.

When picking up the order, Tiana said: "Just kidding I'm an idiot. This s*** smells amazing," and then delivered her first order outside someone's house. After the delivery, she said that she got tipped $7 from "rich people" and was soon onto her next order.

"Next one is $9.25 it's from this place called Koi sounds fancy so let's do it," the TikToker says. "Definitely fancy - also this feels so light like it's probably just like one roll of sushi, but you know who orders that? Rich people."

Tiana then realized that she was low on gas - which really ate into her profit margins - and that her one hour of filming was seemingly up.

At the end of the video, she claimed to have made $21 for one hour's work which she said "honestly isn’t that good," adding "they can’t all be wins".

But it got worse when she subtracted the cost of gas, which left her with a grand total of negative $4 for an hour's worth of delivery driving.

Her shocking pay results surprised many users on the platform as the TikTok clip amassed 105K views and 13.7K likes on the video-sharing app.

Commenting on the viral clip, one viewer wrote: "I’ve learned the first hour is just your gas money and I always dash for at least 3 or more hours."

Another person shared their experience and said: "I door dash too, and it takes me all day just to make $100, there's no money in it."

A third user chimed in and commented: "I made $6 per hour last night besides expenses/gas. Sat night. just wanted to see how [bad] it had gotten. haven’t made $100 all week."

Similar to Uber Eats, DoorDash allows staffers to choose when they work as it has no set hours and doesn't need them to report to a supervisor.

The service is based in US states such as California and San Francisco, as well as operating in countries like Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and Germany.

For drivers, the total earnings are made up of three things: Base pay (time, distance, desirability), Promotions (peak pay, challenges), and Tips (drivers earn 100 percent of tips), per the company website.

So that’s how much a DoorDash delivery driver made in an hour. Not great, right?
