Everyone knows that your wedding vows are an important part of the ceremony so it's pretty crucial to get them on point.

From loving words to recalling some fond memories and maybe a joke thrown in here and there - it's all about having the right balance.

One groom called Cody clearly didn't get the memo as he has recently been ripped apart online for his "gross" wedding vows.

Taking to Instagram via his professional account @ckentertainmentservices, Samuel Foree, a Louisville-based wedding filmmaker posted a snippet of a couple where the man was reading out his vows, and let's just say, it did not sit well with social media users or the officiant for that matter.

The clip shows the husband-to-be telling a crowd of the couple's loved ones that he "promises to smack that [a**] every chance [he] gets."

Of course, the crude word was censored, but the phrasing did not leave much to the imagination.

"That's all I got," he added.

Looking confused and unimpressed, the officiant then asks: "Is that it?"

"Yeah," Cody responds, to which he presses one more time: "Are you sure?"

"I didn't write nothin' down," he mutters.

"That's what you're going out with?" the officiant states, and of course, the unprepared groom confirms, once again, that's all he's got.

"We've made it this long," he added.

All the time the alleged love of his life, Kaitlin, is just standing there awkwardly smiling as if she's not really surprised by her man's response.

Have a look at the controversial clip below:

In the comments, Instagram users tore into the groom, stating that his soon-to-be wife "deserves better."

"She deserves better," wrote one user while another added: "Jesus. How sad for this woman and her family that this is what he says about her. He thinks he’s so funny that he didn’t write any vows but that."

A third also pointed out that the phrasing was alarming, commenting: "'We’ve made it this long' = She’s accepted my lack of effort for this long so why change now."

And this user described the whole thing as "depressing" as well as "gross", stating: "You're marrying the love of your life and didn’t write vows? Jesus christ this is depressing."

"Imagine your dream day and your dream man says this... gross."

Others also dragged the groom for not taking the prompts from the man who was going to marry the pair.

"The officiant tried saving him and he didn’t get the hint," this user wrote while another added: "Bless the officiant for trying to give him SO MANY chances."

In a separate post, Foree also stated that this is one of the most unique weddings he's been to, even titling the wedding film "Wing It."

"The most interesting wedding we've ever filmed. To date. Period," he started in the caption. "...It was certainly one for the books and we enjoyed spending every second of it with Kaitlin and Cody at the beautiful @TheBarnatTwinLakes."

He continued: "One of my favorite parts of the wedding film process is to really try and bring out the couple's personalities during the editing process and this love story was definitely one to be told haha Thank you both for allowing us to be a part of your big day and I wish you guys many years of love, happiness and wingin' its!"

Let's just wish this woman a lot of luck because... Yikes.
