Health officials have responded to concerns after a nurse was filmed by a news crew enjoying a night out at a crowded bar without wearing a face mask.
On Wednesday, Wisconsin's supreme court struck down the governor's stay-at-home order - immediately leading to bars in the state being crammed with people.
Videos and news crews captured closely-packed patrons enjoying a night out after a month of isolation - despite health experts urging the public to practice social distancing measures as the pandemic continues.
One patron who gained particular attention from the WGN news crew was mom and nurse Katie Koutsky, who happily shared her name and profession once the station started to film her.
You can see Koutsky enjoying a night out in the new report below:Koutsky - who was recorded sitting in the crowded bar without wearing a face mask, told WGN: "I have a toddler at home and I'm a full-time nurse. It's been very stressful and hard to go out and be with my friends and family at the bars."
When asked if she was concerned about the possibility of catching or transmitting the novel coronavirus, Koutsky said: "I don't think the risk presents any higher than going to a grocery store."
After the news report gained widespread attention, Koutsky's employer, Advocate Aurora Health, responded to her attendance at the bar, as she was seen surrounded by patrons disregarding social distancing guidelines.
WGN - a sister station of CBS affiliate WFRV - reports that the incident was addressed during a virtual town hall meeting for Advocate Aurora Health on Thursday night.
Advocate Aurora Health chief nursing officer Mary Beth Kingston confirmed that all employees are screened prior to their shifts starting and that the hospital takes all the steps required to ensure that they follow safety measures.
Kingston said: "We've also been working with education with our team members for what they can do to be safe once they leave our hospital walls and certainly we'll be following up with individual nurses as needed."
When CBS News asked Advocate Aurora Health to comment specifically on nurse Katie Koutsky, they said in a statement that it was "disappointed" given the "ongoing education and safety measures we are fully committed to".
The statement continued:
"As businesses begin to reopen, it's important we all to continue to practice safety measures that have been effective in stemming the spread including social distancing, thorough hand washing, staying at home when sick and wearing masks in public in accordance with local government guidance."
Koutsky has since released the following statement through her employer, saying:
"First, while my priority was to support my sister and her attempt to restart her business which has been devastated by this pandemic, I'd like to express my regret for not wearing a mask or practicing social distancing while there."
