A mom has divided opinion and gone viral on social media this week after sharing pictures of a lunchbox her child was using.

Per a recent report by news.com.au, the controversy began on a community Facebook page for parents, after one mom (who has not been identified) shared a picture of the lunch box she had packed for her two-year-old.

This young schoolboy was recently denied a school lunch over his outstanding debts to the district:

In the post in question, which you can view below, the mom wrote: "For my 2 year old! 1) Pigs in a blanket w/ shredded cheese inside 2) Pretzel Sticks 3) Raisins 4) Apples 5) Nuts. [sic]"

Although a number of other Facebook users praised the food selection for its health and nutritional benefits, others harshly criticized the woman over her choices, with some claiming that the pretzel sticks constituted a choking hazard, while others stated that the nuts she'd also included were dangerous for children with nut allergies.

Per news.com.au, in the comments for the post in question, one irate mom wrote: "Food looks great and nut butters are great but whole nuts for a 2 year old is extremely dangerous [sic]"

Meanwhile, another parent chimed in: "Looks good I wouldn’t recommend peanuts under three years old, but it’s what you’re comfortable with."

Finally, someone else added: "Peanuts are always a risk of the choking hazard doesn’t matter what age you are. It’s really annoying to see parents not seeing the real risk or thinking it will never happen to them."

Another parent even spoke about how one of her young relatives had a near-death experience, writing: "My nephew ate chocolate-covered almond and he aspirated the almond and it went into his lung. He nearly died they didn’t know what was wrong until his lung finally collapsed [sic]."

Another parent took to the comments to share a small fact sheet that listed foods that should be “kept away” from children under the age of four, which included peanuts and hot dogs. It is not clear where the information comes from.

Per news.com.au, the debate eventually accrued so many comments, that the Facebook group's administrators were eventually forced to disabled comments on the post due to the number of reactions.
