A woman has shared the story of how staff at her gym told her to "cover-up or leave" after she wore a t-shirt to her workout.

TikTok user Alana - who goes by the handle @pennevodkaplease on the platform - took to her account earlier this week to share the story of the treatment she allegedly received in a branch of the gym chain Planet Fitness.

Per The Independent, on Wednesday (June 30), Alana testified that she was told by PF employees that she would have to cover herself up more or leave the premises after she turned up wearing leggings and a cropped t-shirt.

What do you think of Alana's outfit choice?

She promptly uploaded a picture of herself wearing the apparently offensive red t-shirt, and captioned the post: "Time to find a new gym."

The disgruntled gym-goer also included a voiceover that stated: "Um, if you don't like me that's fine. But, you know... watch your mouth."

Responding to a comment, Alana claimed that staff had told her that her "shirt was too short" and that she needed to pull her leggings up.

Her post clearly resonated with a number of other TikTok users and has since accrued over 122,000 views, 10,000 reactions, and dozens of comments as of the time of writing.

Finally, this commenter stated: "Pretty sure someone just complained I've seen it happen all the time & then the employees have to do something. [sic]"

According to the official Planet Fitness website, there is no specific ban on crop tops, but the company does state that any outfits that could be perceived as "intimidating" will not be tolerated.

It reads: "We’re all for people expressing themselves, but do ask that clothing that may be perceived as intimidating, revealing, or offensive not be worn in the club.

"We also do not allow clothing that may present safety hazards or damage equipment.

"Examples of clothing that is not allowed include: open-toed shoes or sandals; mud-caked, greasy, or soiled shoes or clothing; jeans or pants with prominent grommets and clothing with messaging that a reasonable person may find offensive or otherwise inappropriate."

So, was Alana's outfit inappropriate? Or were the staff blowing the issue out of proportion? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
