A woman has taken to social media to praise a male gym-goer for not staring at her while she was working out.

Over the last few months, there have been multiple stories about women sharing videos and social media posts about how they feel harassed and creeped out when visiting their gym. Recent viral videos show women confronting the guys for staring at them as they worked out, and another even showed how a female gymgoer painted a "hickey" onto her neck to deter any male attention.

Now, one woman has gone viral for the opposite - praising a guy who kept his eyes diverted as she was performing some deep squats.

Athlete Libby Christensen (@libbychristensen) recently took to TikTok to share the clip, which she captioned: "ty for your service kind sir."

Check out her video below:

In the video, Christensen can be seen at the forefront performing her reps, as a guy sits on a bench behind her. However, despite the many stories we've seen circulated online over the last 12 months, the gentleman does not look over at Christensen, and keeps his eyes on the floor until he is ready to resume his own workout.

On the video, Christensen wrote: "I just need to shout out this man who was behind me while I was hack squatting [because] I was so uncomfy that I was being stared down but very thankful that my booty was not his focus."

She added that after watching the video back, she "felt at ease".

The video has since amassed over 4.5 million views, with many commenters sharing their thoughts on the situation.

One TikToker wrote: "This is gym code 101 for any decent guy. Head stays looking at the ground or your phone till your done with the set."

A second commented: "Every man should have this respect for a woman lifter beside them."

Another added: "Anytime I'm in this situation I always try to start my set the same time he does so I don't make him uncomfortable."

And sharing a male perspective on the situation, one guy wrote: "When I’m in this position at the gym I have to move in fear of the woman thinking I’m a creep. The uncomfortable feeling goes both ways sometimes."

To which Christensen replied: "Most definitely feel you here! It’s hard to gauge [people's] intentions especially when we all walk around in silence!"

The gym should be a place where everybody feels comfortable - and it never hurts to show a little consideration for our fellow gym-goers.
