Two high schoolers have "tested" their school's dress code in a bid to prove that it's "sexist".

Taking to TikTok on August 24, Drew Jarding, an Illinois high school student, decided to test what would happen if he and his friend Kenzie Crimmins both wore outfits in violation of their school dress code, the Independent reports.

The teenager captioned the video: "Dressing the same to show how dress codes are sexist."

In the video, Jarding could be seen wearing a cropped t-shirt and shorts, and Crimmins wore a slightly cropped shirt and a pair of leggings.

The footage then demonstrates how the pair were treated throughout the day, showing them dancing "in front of five teachers."

It then ended with the revelation that school staff decided to discipline Crimmins for breaking the school dress code even though she was not.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Jarding said that the dress code bans crop tops, ripped jeans, spaghetti straps, or straps that expose too much skin.

Shorts, skirts, and dresses are also expected to be long enough to reach below the knee.

Needless to say, the video did not go unnoticed on TikTok, and at the time of writing, it has been viewed more than 7 million times, liked over 2.2 million times, and received thousands of comments.

One shocked user wrote: "THE FACT YOURS WAS MORE REVEALING ANYWAYS -"

A second added alongside a skull emoji: "and y'all say double standards aren't a thing."

A third wrote: "hers was literally a tiny sliver and yours was your whole torso. this says it all [sic]."

A fourth remarked: "you should make the shirt smaller every day until you just have nothing on to see how long it takes..."

Meanwhile, a fifth speculated: "im telling yall, this is gonna be the LAST year for dress codes...they are rediculous [sic]."

Jarding later told BuzzFeed that he made the video to "show how biased [dress codes] really are."

"I had known that dress codes had been unfair for a while, I just didn’t know to this extent," he said. "I was wearing multiple outfits that were going against the code or whatever and they hadn't said a single thing to me all that week."
