For far too long now, being a December baby has always come with its difficulties.
No, I’m not talking about the fact that the days are shorter and the bitterly cold weather means you can’t wear your best glad rags. I’m talking about the fact that people born in December have always had to contend with the biggest and most beloved day of the year: Christmas.
Well, enough is enough.
When it comes to both Christmas and birthdays, three things usually make the occasion extra special: Gifts, parties, and food - and December babies have been short-changed on each of these very important factors for generations.
For example, for everybody else not born in December, they receive both Christmas presents and then their birthday presents. Well, not December babies.
For an unprecedented amount of time now, friends and family have been skimping out and using the holiday season as an excuse to give a gift that is both for “Christmas AND your birthday”. Very often, all this means is that they spent an extra £5 on your gift so it appears to be bigger and better than your sibling’s present.
But that doesn’t explain why your brother - who was born in June - was opening the new Nintendo for his birthday, and all you got was a bumper pack of socks.
It also doesn’t explain why your birthday present was handed to you in Christmas-themed wrapping paper and topped with a candy cane.
And then there are the parties. Everybody loves a good birthday celebration! Nothing beats having all your loved ones together for a special occasion that’s all about you.
But have you ever tried to hold a birthday party in December?
It’s simply impossible. Between work Christmas dos and all of your family and friends’ festive shenanigans, it’s impossible to even find a date to celebrate your birthday.
The month of December is only 31 days long, and with a Christmas party occurring every weekend, as well as the last-minute Christmas shopping for your less organised pals, there’s absolutely no chance of you getting all your mates together in one room.
And even if by some Christmas miracle you could get all your friends together, everywhere is fully booked for - you guessed it - Christmas parties.
But we’re not all doom and gloom here. In fact, we want December babies to reclaim their birthdays - and it all starts with the food!
No more starting your birthday by opening your cheap Advent calendar and saying goodbye to blowing out a lone birthday candle on a Christmas cake.
December babies shouldn’t have to partake in any of the Christmas cheer if they don’t want to. And that’s why it’s time to ditch all that overrated and overpriced Christmas food and tuck in something fresh and tasty: Taco Bell.
Taco Bell, the home of the famous Crunchwrap Supreme and other delicious Mexican-inspired foods, is the best way to bring your nearest and dearest together to celebrate your day of birth. And after endless rounds of mulled wine and pigs in blankets, we December babies deserve something that’s going to bring our tastebuds to life.
So, all of you December babies out there: It’s time to reclaim your birthday!
Bin off the Christmas party, invite your mates round to your place, order your favourite Taco Bell treats, and start your December celebration with a party in your mouth.
This year, it’s not mistletoe bringing people together — it’s just you and Taco Bell.
