Elliot Page has received an outpouring of praise on social media after sharing a shirtless poolside pic celebrating trans bodies.
On Monday, the Umbrella Academy star took to Instagram to share the topless snap with his 5.1 million followers. In the photo, Page can be seen wearing his "first swim trunk", as he shows of his impressive six-pack, the scars from his top surgery, and - most importantly - a beaming smile.
The 34-year-old captioned the touching post: "Trans bb’s first swim trunks", along with the two hashtags "#transjoy" and "#transisbeautiful".
In less than 15 hours, the post has amassed over 2.2 million likes on Instagram, and people have also taken to Twitter to share their responses to the actor's powerful image.
Buckle-up, because these reactions are raw, heartfelt, and overwhelmingly genuine.
Some tweets were from parents thanking Page for being a round trans role model - like this parent who said: "You’re amazing! My trans son looks up to you. We always bought him trunks. Soon, he can take off the t-shirt. Thank you".
Other Twitter users also took the time to praise the "incredible" and "discrete" results of Page's top surgery:
One social media user joked about the world of having a "swimsuit with pockets":
And did I say "six-pack" before? Well, I stand corrected - as many Twitter users were swooning over Page's remarkable eight-pack:
People were also quick to comment on just how happy Page looks in the post, with one person tweeting: "Damn Elliot!!!! The joy on your face in this photo is everything".
And, of course, there were responses from trans individuals who praised Page for being an incredible role model in their community.
"[As] a trans guy who is passionate about film, you inspire me to one day be just like you, in a profession just like yours, able to be open in who I am and able to feel like myself. Thank you for being someone I can look up to," one person tweeted.
Another person responded: "[Seeing] you, a transmasc person (like me!) whose jawline & body-type are similar to mine, absolutely killing it & living your best life makes me feel so much joy for you & makes me feel more confident in myself".
Finally, other people were just there to offer sensible advice when poolside:
Page first publicly revealed they were transgender back in December 2020. The Juno actor took to Instagram to share a lengthy heartfelt post, in which he shared with his fans that he is trans and his pronouns are he/they.
And earlier this month, Page opened up about his top surgery in an interview with Oprah Winfrey for the host's new show for Apple TV+, Oprah Conversations.
"I want people to know that not only has it been life-changing for me, I do believe it is life-saving and it’s the case for so many people," the actor told the 67-year-old chat show icon.
The actor then became emotional when Winfrey asked what has brought him the most joy since transitioning. Page replied: "It’s the little things... getting out of the shower and the towel’s around your waist and you’re looking at yourself in the mirror and you’re just like, 'There I am'."
