A school teacher has been fired after making derogatory comments towards a transgender student in their class.

Per The Mirror, a French teacher from Ash Manor School in England had her contract terminated for gross misconduct after a student's mother reported a conversation she had with the students.

Susan Field was found guilty of making "derogatory" remarks during a May 2019 discussion about a trans student’s intent on joining the Student Senior Leadership Team.

Field allegedly said it was inappropriate for a child as young as 11 to take up this position and be held up as a role model to older students.

She was also accused of failing to punish students who were bullying her transgender charge by referring to them as "it," and went on to tell her tutor group that it wasn’t appropriate for a member of the LGBTQI to represent Ash Manor School.

Field has since apologized for her hurtful comments, stating: "I did express an opinion and deeply regret it."

"I realize now it was wrong. It was not professional. I realize that now and regret the whole thing. At that point in time, my comment didn’t show respect," she added.

This controversy comes not long after a gym teacher was placed on administrative leave for refusing to refer to a trans pupil by their preferred pronouns.

Per WTOP News, Byron 'Tanner' Cross, who taught gym class at Leesburg Elementary School in Loudoun County in Virginia, claimed his religious beliefs prohibited him from using the gendered language his pupil wanted.

This directly contradicted LCPS draft policy 8040, which states: "Staff shall allow gender-expansive or transgender students to use their chosen name and gender pronouns that reflect their gender identity without any substantiating evidence."

Cross defended himself by citing a 60 Minutes episode about young people who had chosen to "de-transition" when justifying his decision to misgender the child in a school board meeting held on Tuesday, May 25.

He stated: "I am speaking out of love for those who are suffering from gender dysphoria.

"I'm a teacher but I serve God first and I will not affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa because it's against my religion.  It's lying to a child, it's abuse to a child, and it's sinning against our God."
