The coronavirus pandemic has made life for those in hospital and their families harder than it already is.
But this loving son didn't let the pandemic stop him from spending precious time with his dying mom and he did so by climbing a hospital wall every day.
Jihad Al-Suwaiti, 30, climbed the hospital wall after his mother was admitted with coronavirus and cancer to a hospital in Hebron, a Palestinian city in the southern West Bank.
A hospital official commented: "He spent most of his day there, observing his mother's condition from outside the window, before coming down when he was convinced that his mother was fast asleep."
While the 30-year-old was advised against climbing the building for his own safety, he did not listen and continued to scale it for five days until his 73-year-old mother, Rasmi Suwaiti, passed away, according to news site Says, the Mirror reports.
Al-Suwaiti's brother said: "He was very close to our mother, especially since our dad died 15 years ago."
The 30-year-0ld was so desperate to spend time with his mother, who was battling leukemia prior to contracting coronavirus, that he even tried to gain access to her hospital room when she grew sicker, his brother revealed to local media website Astroawani.
According to the Mirror, Al-Suwaiti said goodbye to his mom from the window of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on July 16.
A heartbreaking picture of Al-Suwaiti watching his mother from outside her hospital room was later turned into a gorgeous illustration by Mohamad Safa, and it has been touching people around the world.
One Twitter user wrote: "This made me shed a tear. Lost my mum in 2014 and life hasn't been the same. I don't celebrate my birthday because hers is just 9 days before mine. The feeling of not hearing her voice anymore is totally devastating. Love and light to everyone who has lost a parent."
A second remarked: "She must [have] been a wonderful mother to have raised such a devoted son. Blessings on them both. Rest In Peace, dear lady."
Meanwhile, a third wrote: "I dunno why but this picture hit me like a sledgehammer. Enjoy your parents while you can, no matter how old [you are], tell them you love them [sic]."
