A man who encountered a tragic accident where he was cut in half by a forklift has stated that he is "disappointed" by his friend's reactions.
Loren Schauers from Wilsall, Montana, acknowledged that while some of his friends have been incredibly supportive, others have not done as much.
Loren's life was forever altered in 2019 during a freak accident where he lost control of a forklift on a bridge, plummeting 50 feet to the ground. The impact left the lower half of his then-19-year-old body severely crushed, including one of his arms.
Opting for a hemicorporectomy, a procedure to amputate his entire lower body, Loren narrowly escaped death. He and his wife Sabia have since shared their post-accident journey on YouTube, where their channel has gained over 590,000 subscribers.
During a question and answer session, Loren addressed a question from a follower about how his friends had treated him following the life-altering accident.
The question posed was: "Do your friends still treat you the same way they used to before the accident? Are you happy, surprised, or disappointed by some of them?"
Loren frankly revealed in the video that many of his friends had fallen short of being there for him since his injury. "Mostly disappointed by most of them, I'd say," he candidly stated.

Sabia chimed in, saying, "I've been a little surprised by some of them."
Loren further elaborated, acknowledging that while "a couple of friends came out of the woodworks and have been really supportive," others "totally reverted and have been reclusive."
"But it's whatever to me, you know, I got Sabia, that's all I need," he added.
In addition to reflecting on friends' responses, the couple delved into how Loren's accident had reshaped their romantic relationship.
When Loren was hospitalized, the pair had only been together for 18 months. Despite the challenges thrown their way, their bond not only endured but grew stronger, resulting in their marriage in 2021.
"Going through this together has definitely strengthened a lot of the aspects of our relationship," Sabia noted, emphasizing their newfound appreciation for the small things they once took for granted as a couple.
Their future plans include embarking on global adventures before starting a family, albeit at a more measured pace than before.
Loren remarked that their life now is "much simpler compared to what it used to be," humorously adding, "There's a lot more laying around than before."
Despite Loren's friends not being as supportive as he would have hoped, we hope Loren and Sabia are able to jet off and explore the world as they intend to!
