Mia Khalifa has recently divided the internet after giving her opinion on men who date women much younger than them.

During an episode of Emily Ratajakowski's High Low podcast, the former adult entertainment star joined the host to discuss all things sex. From body image issues to the overwhelming shame that comes with being open about one's desires, the duo discussed it all.

However, there was one segment of the podcast that has become a talking point online and it's related to couples with big age gaps - more specifically older men and younger women.

And we're not just talking about a couple of years between the two, we're talking about significant age differences.

Khalifa, whose real name is Sarah Joe Chamoun, slammed men who deliberately seek out younger women in order to date them, stating that there are elements of control within such a partnership.

"Any guy who goes after a girl significantly younger than them is severely lacking in their life and I mean that confidence-wise," Khalifa told Ratajakowski. "They are falling short in so many places and that is the only place they can turn to feel like they have something on the scale of power."

The 31-year-old went on to agree with Khalifa, saying: "Ultimately, it’s predatory because you’re manipulating someone who is not aware of what they’re giving you. And it’s unfair."

The clip was posted to Instagram where it was immediately flooded with comments from people who did not take kindly to the remarks made by both women.

"The thing I hate about this convo is that it disempowers the woman. Who says she's being manipulated? How can anyone make a free choice? We're all being manipulated," commented one user.

"So disappointed by this content. This is a personal opinion which is divulged as a truth. It’s always on a case by case basis. Older men can pursue younger women out of genuine and pure interest," wrote another, while a third added: "Pretty disrespectful to suggest that an adult woman isn’t smart enough to understand the dynamic of dating someone older than them."

Others pointed out that most of the comments disagreeing with Khalifa's opinion were coming from other men, which in itself seemed to be a problem.

"The amount of man (sic) crying in the comments because their predatory behavior got called out... Very woody Allen of you," said one user.

The OnlyFans star has always been pretty vocal about her experiences when she was younger, especially about her time in the adult entertainment industry.

In a 2018 interview with Lance Armstrong on his podcast The Forward, Khalifa said: "I wasn’t doing it for money, I just wanted to let loose and rebel a little bit.

"It didn’t validate me. Nothing like that ever does. That’s not what you should be doing to try and build your self-esteem… Looking back on it I don’t know what I was thinking."

Khalifa has previously also spoken out about how manipulative the industry can be, telling the Daily Beast that she was approached when she was at her most vulnerable.

"I was approached at a very vulnerable point in my life," she said. "I went back and shot a scene, and it was terrifying and temporarily validating, but afterwards I felt a little empty.

"Though I still had that pit in my stomach where I wanted to chase that validation again… I think what made me go back and do it again was that the attention I was receiving, I was afraid it would go away if I didn’t do what I was asked to do."
