A model has slammed critics who slated her for wearing a revealing "underwire polo" top.

Charli Howard is a British model who has worked for several well-known brands and fashion campaigns such as Maybelline, Redken, British Vogue, Allure magazine, and Pat McGrath.

She is also the founder of a cruelty-free beauty brand called Squish and has modeled for several lingerie brands such as Agent Provocateur and Honey Birdette.

The 33-year-old is an activist for diversity within the fashion industry and is unafraid to go public with her bold outfits.

Back in 2020, Howard shared a series of images that certainly caused commotion on the internet.

The snaps revealed her donning a pair of high-waisted brown pants and a long-sleeve yellow crop top that featured an underwire beneath the bust.

In one of the pictures, she showed off the back of her sheer top, which is designed by the US label Mirror Palais, and added another picture that gave followers a closer shot of her chest.

Check out the post below:

Charli’s post was inundated with comments from followers who complimented the look as one user wrote: "My god! That shirt looks amazing," and another said: "It looks incredible, I love the look on you. Keep the great work you are doing as a model."

A third commented: "No matter what others say, you rock that shirt!! Stay you," and a fourth added: "Charli you are a wonder representative of a free-thinking, mature-minded and fearless woman."

"I admire you so much, it feels like you're so confident about your body, idk if you actually are but it's so inspiring! I'd like to be able to wear that kind of top without feeling self-conscious ugh love it," someone shared under the image.

Meanwhile, some people shared some nasty comments about the top - which prompted the model to hit back. According to News.com.au, one person wrote: "How many people pointed out that it's see-through??" to which Charli responded: "One - your dad."

A second chimed in: "That’s a weird shirt," so Charli shared a quick reply which read: "Don’t buy it then, bye."

One person shared a tamer response, writing: "You are so gorgeous, but no to that shirt. The underwire looks so uncomfy," but the model let them know that the top is "supportive" and that "you feel 'secured in'".

Back in 2018, Charli opened up about the time her modeling agency dropped her due to her body shape.

She said she would no longer allow people to tell her "what’s wrong with my looks and what I need to change in order to be 'beautiful' (like losing one f***ing inch off my hips), in the hope it might force you to find me work," per The Guardian.

"I refuse to feel ashamed and upset on a daily basis for not meeting your ridiculous, unattainable beauty standards," she continued. "The more you force us to lose weight and be small, the more designers have to make clothes to fit our sizes, and the more young girls are being made ill.

"It’s no longer an image I choose to represent. If an agency wishes to represent me for myself, my body & the WOMAN I’ve become, give me a call. Until then, I’m off to Nando’s," she added.
