A model who underwent a procedure to reduce the size of her forehead has opened up about why she chose to have the surgery and what exactly it evolved.

For a long time, 26-year-old Camilla Coleman Brooks felt insecure about the forehead and tried everything she could to conceal it.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, the North Carolina native explained: "I was always kind of uncomfortable with the size of my forehead in proportion to my face. I just kind of thought it was too big for me personally."

When she had her hair pulled back, she felt that she looked "bald" and so wore bangs to hide her forehead.

Camilla spent years looking into various procedures and eventually settled on forehead reduction surgery, which took place in late February. The model says she was put under general anesthesia ahead of the surgery.

Take a look at Camilla's before and after surgery photos:

"They make an incision right at your hairline, and then they have to lift up your scalp a bit, and how far they can move it depends on the elasticity of your skin," Camilla explained.

"They make another incision where they see how far down they can pull your scalp, and then they cut out the middle part and they stitch it back together."

"I think people thought I was shaving down my skull or something because they were like, 'How do you change the size of your forehead?'" she said. "Overall, it's not a super-invasive surgery, it’s just moving some skin around."

Ultimately, Camilla's forehead was reduced by about three centimeters (1.18 inches). But according to the TikToker, when she posted videos featuring the outcome of the surgery, a number of her followers pointed out that they could not see much of a difference.

The reason for this, according to Camilla, is that in the after images, her head is shaved past her new hairline, which is just ahead of her scar.

"Some people say, 'You don’t love yourself,'" she went on to say. "I think you can still have insecurities and change yourself on the outside, while still loving yourself on the inside."

"I didn’t do it to make anyone else feel self-conscious about it," she added. "Especially when people are like, 'Wow, I’m just noticing my forehead is big, should I get this done?' I’m like, hell no, you’re just noticing this, it isn’t an actual issue."

Ultimately, Camilla is happy with the results of the surgery and has absolutely no regrets - and that is the most important thing about her story.
