A renowned body painter and a nude model have managed to fool audiences with an incredible piece of amazing optical illusion art.
Take a look at the video below, and you may be surprised to learn that you're not actually looking at a butterfly:Writing on YouTube, artist Johannes Stötter said of this particular piece: "This work makes me sooo happy! I share it in the hope that it has the same effect on all of you. To share happiness is what means LOVE to me [...] I dedicate this artwork to my little daughter Linnéa."
Contorting her body in a particular way, model Laura Crocerossa was painted by Stötter with such precision that upon first glance, she appears to simply be a butterfly perching on a yellow summer flower. In fact, she even moves her body in a way that reflects how a butterfly would gently move its wings.
In the behind the scenes video that was also uploaded to Stötter's YouTube channel, it shows how the makes model took her position on the "flower" first, before being transformed into the beautiful insect.
In the footage, Stötter, an artist based in Northern Italy, can be seen carefully painting each section of Crocerossa's body in order to achieve the optical illusion. It may appear bizarre, but it certainly had me fooled.
According to Stötter's official website, "rather than a static canvas, Johannes transfers his art onto live models. [...] Bringing his artwork to life with each brushstroke, and creating detailed effects with his hands, he fuses the seen and unseen into one.
Back in 2013, Stötter went viral after creating a tropical frog using five models (seen above), a piece that, according to his website "propelled his career into another stratosphere".
