The sister of an NHS nurse has spoken out on Facebook about how her sibling was allegedly left "humiliated" by B&M staff after she tried to purchase a last-minute birthday present for her son, the Liverpool Echo has reported.
Stephanie Fairfield, 33, took to the social media platform to explain how her sister, Robyn Fairfield-Bretherton, 28, had just finished a 12-hour shift at Aintree Hospital in Merseyside, where she works as a healthcare assistant.

Per the Metro, staff at the B&B store at Switch Island retail park in Bootle "made a scene" when they ordered Robyn to join the end of the line, despite other shoppers insisting she could go ahead of them to quickly pick up the gift.

Writing on Facebook, Stephanie said:
"So today my sister Robyn Elizabeth Fairfield-Bretherton went to B&M SWITCH ISLAND, AINTREE, LIVERPOOL after finishing her shift in Aintree hospital. My sister has been doing back to back 12-hour shifts for the NHS.
"Robyn went to pick up gifts for her son’s birthday tomorrow, Robyn showed her ID to the security staff and was refused entry unless she went to the back of the long excessive queue.
"People in the queue offered to let her in before them and even said she was with them to get her in and even offered to give their space up in the queue and go to the back of it for her but no this was also denied! Security then went on to make a scene and ask her to go to the back of the queue again.
"People were outraged and said they would put this on Twitter and Facebook. Next came the store manager who again asked her to go to the back of the queue, Robyn explained she had just finished her shift and would like to nip in very quickly to get her baby boy who is 2 tomorrow a few gifts (her son who has respiratory problems and yet she goes to work every day putting her own life and lives of her young family at risk on a daily basis fighting an invisible enemy).
"Then the manager again refused her entry and said you get 10% discount but you need to queue like everyone else."
Stephanie posted the story alongside a video of her applauding her sister from her car for all her amazing work as part of the NHS.

Explaining that we should be supporting the staff of the National Health Service and not "belittling" them, Stephanie said:
"My sister is extremely quiet and shy as it is, she then decided to walk away from the store as she was humiliated and embarrassed and was in floods of tears.
"I honestly hope to god that none of the staff in B&M need NHS care during this pandemic, imagine the NHS staff saying you will be seen last as you came in last regardless of your needs if it's life-threatening or not!
"We are supposed to be supporting our NHS and key workers not humiliating and belittling them!
"B&M SWITCH ISLAND, AINTREE, LIVERPOOL should be ashamed of themselves absolutely disgusting behavior and I can not even believe this has happened! This is not how we treat our HERO’S."
VT would like to thank Robyn, other medical workers, and all the key workers out there that are helping to keep the world turning during these uncertain times...
