If 2020 has taught the world anything, it's that life is short and you never know what's around the corner. This is why it's more important than ever that we heed the life advice of people who've been around a lot longer than us.
And luckily, the residents of an Australian nursing home have done just that, sharing their brilliant and often hilarious thoughts on a number of topics on Facebook, including ways to stay in touch during the current pandemic.
This June, officials at the Waratah Lodge asked the residents of Waratah Lodge what life advice they'd like to share with the younger generations, and their responses were so brilliant that they went viral.

For the fun activity, the care home's administrators wrote down each resident's name, their age, and what life advice they'd like to share with the younger generation on a whiteboard.
"Find something good in every day," Joyce, 88, suggested.
"Work hard but enjoy life," said Joan, 93.
"Love your family and love your footy team," Joan J, 89, said.
"You can't take your money with you, so spend it at the pub," Tom, 88, declared.

It wasn't long before the initial messages resonated with many and they had soon gone viral with 2,500 shares.
Inspired by the popularity of the post, the administrators at Orbost Regional Health have now had their residents weigh in on a number of topics including dating and saving money, resulting in some brilliant answers from a resident who, for example, would like to spend the day as a prime minister.
Jo Marshall, director of clinical and aged care services at Orbost Regional Health, said that while she knew the new tradition was popular, even she didn't expect it to spread as far as it has.

In an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle on Wednesday, Marshall said: "The residents have loved the activity and get very excited when shown the comments that they have received."
"They have a sense of pride that they are contributing to some positivity in an otherwise fairly stressful time," she continued. "The reactions have been wonderful, with comments such as 'please keep these coming, they are the only brightness in a dull world,' and 'these guys are so inspiring.'"

The director said that Waratah Lodge plans to continue the life advice series until the residents stop enjoying it or when they simply run out of prompts.
Marshall described the seniors as "very resilient" with optimistic opinions, so we're sure they've got plenty more useful life advice they'll happily share with the younger generations!
