OnlyFans is no longer planning to ban explicit adult content in an abrupt U-turn.
The online subscription website released a statement on Wednesday, August 25, after it previously said that it was going to ban all explicit content on October 1, Business Insider reports.
"Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard," it said in the statement. "We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change."
"OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators," it added.
At the time of the ban's announcement, BBC News reported that it was the result of pressure from its banking partners, which led the website to say:
"In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines."
Under the proposed new rules, explicit sexual content would no longer be permitted on OnlyFans, but people would still be allowed to share nude photographs.
Per BBC News, OnlyFans grew at an exponential rate since its launch in 2016, and it quickly became known as a place to access X-rated content creators.

The proposed ban was met with outrage from sex workers, who have previously found themselves banned from posting explicit content on other platforms like Tumblr and Instagram.
However, the abrupt U-turn has not been met with positivity from adult content creators either, many of whom have spent the past week attempting to find an OnlyFans alternative to ensure their livelihood.
One sex worker wrote on Twitter: "Something about the special way you gaslight and manipulate us is starting to make me feel like this account is run by my one of my ex boyfriends [sic]."
A second added: "No chance. You have proved that not only are you untrustworthy but you are willing to put millions of creators out of a job + possibly dangerous situs FOR MONEY you didn't even tell us first. PLUS IM NOT F**KING MY FANS AROUND already moved. Damage already done [sic]."
A third wrote: "Creators, before you decide to run back to your ex PhonyFans, please keep in mind all the hard work and time and dedication that was put in from other platforms to help make you feel safe and comfortable when your ex dropped you for a card company.
"SEX WORKERS KNOW YOUR WORTH."
Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: "Dude, there's a lot of very strong, intelligent women using this platform & you are messing with their business... This is not a demographic you wanna f with. Step it up ++ stop taking 20% we don't like that either."
While some OnlyFans creators use the subscription-based website to post fitness and cooking videos, the majority of the site consists of pornography, per BBC News.
