M&M is one of the most popular confectionaries in the world and people are just discovering what the initials stand for.
The famous crispy chocolate candies were invented in New Jersey in 1941 and due to its everlasting impact 80 years later, you can still purchase them at supermarkets today.
While many people assumed the name was inspired by the "mmm" sound made when you eat the chocolate, apparently this isn't the case.
According to Daily Mail, the chocolate's brand title comes from the names of the two founders: Forrest E. Mars Sr - who also introduced Milky Way and Mars Inc - and Bruce Murrie.

In the 1930s, Forrest Mars saw during the Spanish Civil War that British volunteers were consuming small chocolate beads wrapped in a hard sugar shell to prevent them from melting.
The businessman knew there would be a shortage of chocolate and sugar as World War II broke out in Europe, so when he returned to the US, he approached Bruce Murrie, the son of Hershey executive William Murrie for an idea.
After joining forces with Murrie, Mars hoped their collaboration would deliver a supply of resources needed to produce his new candy. In return, Murrie received a 20 percent stake in the product.
Initially, the candies were sold solely to the US military, so deployed soldiers overseas could eat them and not worry about them melting. Not long after, the product was launched in stores and remains to be a popular sweet option today.
Many fans took to social media to share that they were stunned to learn what the initial and brand name really means.
One user on Twitter said: "I was today years old when I learned that M & M stands for Mars and Murrie."
While another said: "Took me 20 years on this earth to find m and ms, stand for Mars and Murrie. I guess you do learn something every day"
A third user on Reddit wrote: "I legitimately felt good learning that...thank you," and a fourth commented: "Knowing that M&M's [were] created for soldiers in WW2, I assumed M&M stood for Military Munchies. When you assume..."

Eight decades later, the "melts in your mouth, not in your hands" slogan still remain relevant today and describes the chocolate perfectly.
Since 2003, the chocolates have been sold in more than 100 countries and a variety of new colors and flavors have been introduced.
In 2017, Mars launched an M&M chocolate block offering six different flavors - milk, hazelnut, crispy, crispy mint, and strawberry.
