Plus-size women are taking social media by storm by sharing what they're expected to wear at the beach versus what they actually wear.

The trend began on June 14 when Lizzo shared a video of herself looking like a goddess in a bikini and defiantly challenged traditional beauty standards by declaring it a big girl summer.

She captioned the video: "SA: BIG GRRRL SUMMER = BREAK OUT THE BIKINIS. FABS ON DECK HOE! BIG FAT ASS PURRRRRRRRRRRRR. [sic]"

This post came at the same time as a viral video from TikTok user @mrsbosin, where she shared the oversized baggy outfit that people expected her to wear to the beach versus the sleek, fitted bikini that she actually wears.

Watch the empowering video below:

The video went down a storm on the social media platform as it's been liked over 1.1 million times, at the time of writing.

Reacting to the video, one TikTok user wrote: "You look better with the suit on!!!!"

A second added alongside a heart emoji: "Glad you didn't listen to their lies."

A fourth remarked: "People don't believe me when I say less is more! You lost 20lbs putting on that suit!"

The incredible @mrsbosin went on to reiterate her point on Instagram in a different bikini, captioning the post: "Steps to the perfect bikini body: 1. Put a bikini on your body."

She then concludes: "You're perfect just the way you are boo."

Now, other TikTok users like @jassispicey have started taking part in the empowering trend, sharing videos of themselves showing off their equally valid and incredible bikini bodies.

TikTok user @jaci_dayne also wowed social media users with her interpretation of the trend.

Meanwhile, @themhoffers decided to use the trend as an opportunity to share how she learned to love her body.
