Tan France has welcomed his first son with his husband Rob.
The 38-year-old star of the hit Netflix series Queer Eye took to his Instagram on Tuesday, August 3, to share a picture of his new baby boy Ismail.
In it, the fashion designer revealed that the pair welcomed their baby via surrogate, but as the child was born prematurely, he was forced to spend the last three weeks in newborn intensive care.
Writing in a caption addressed to his 3.9 million followers on the platform, the British fashion designer stated:
"Give our son a warm welcome. Ismail France, born July 10th.
"He came 7 weeks early, so he’s been in the NICU for the past 3 weeks. But, today, we finally got to bring him home. We love him so, so much. Like, fully obsessed.
"Our Surrogate is doing so great, post-labor, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the greatest gift in our lives."
The post quickly went viral, racking up over 1.6 million likes and a further 32,000 comments, at the time of writing.
A spokesperson for the streaming service Netflix wrote: "Awwwww congrats! Ismail is sooo lucky to have you two as parents."
Fellow fashion designer Daniel W. Fletcher commented: "Congratulations Tan and Rob, so so happy for you."
Another fan stated: "Perfection. Congrats on your sweet baby boy. You guys are going to be great dads!"
Finally, Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski added: "Overjoyed for you Tannay."
The name "Ismail" is an alternative spelling of "Ishmael" - an important prophet in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, who is mentioned several times in the Qu'ran - which is seemingly in keeping with France's Muslim upbringing.
According to TODAY, France broke the news that he and his son were expecting a baby in an Instagram post back in April.
France shared a photo of himself cradling an ultrasound picture of his baby over his belly, writing: "So happy to finally share that WE’RE HAVING A BABY!! No, I’m not pregnant, despite this VERY realistic pic. [sic]"
He continued: "With the greatest gift/help of the most wonderful surrogate, Rob and I are lucky enough to be on our way to being parents, this Summer.
"Our hearts are so full right now. "I cannot wait to hold this baby, and to show him so much love."
