When it comes to weddings, sometimes the photographs seem to be more important than the actual event itself. I remember when I was a best man at a wedding a couple of years ago, and I seriously underestimated the amount of time I spent in front of the camera.
Every moment of my friend's nuptials was obsessively recorded for posterity, and all of those snaps had to be totally perfect, or else all hell would break loose. This isn't just the case for wedding picture any more; now it seems like everything from the engagement, to the stag weekend, has to look good on camera ... which is an uphill struggle at a lad's night out, believe me.
But this week, a woman's pictures of her engagement have gone viral after it was revealed from an inside source that she'd actually indulged in some clever photographic fakery to get the perfect picture. Not only that, but we humble viewers probably wouldn't have noticed that anything was actually amiss, were it not for the fact that somebody on Twitter actually pointed it out for us. Think of it as a special easter egg if you will.
A woman named Diana from Melbourne, Australia was proposed to by her boyfriend José, who presented her with an absolutely gorgeous engagement ring. The girl said yes, and so far it seemed as though everything was hunky-dory. There was just one problem: the lady's nails weren't manicured. In fact, they were actually far from their best state. What was our bride-to-be to do?
Well, she came up with an ingenious solution: and used her cousin's hand as a double; slipping the ring on her finger and then having her hold her hand up so that it could be seen in the million-dollar shot, but with the rest of her body out of shot. What do you guys think? I reckon it worked pretty well, all things considered.
Unfortunately, the girl in question had to go and spill the beans. Twitter-user@goodgaljenjen took to social media to write "My cousin’s boyfriend proposed to her but she didn’t have her nails done lmao [sic]" and uploaded two versions of the engagement photo - the original snap with her in the frame, and the new cropped version. The post has since managed to accrue over 664,000 likes and 160,000 retweets.
Jenna later provided an update to the story on Twitter, writing: "Hi everyone ... I’m so happy that you’re all sharing the joy of this special moment with us! To answer a couple of FAQ’s: Diana is a nurse so she never has her nails done. José planned this surprise proposal & couldn’t really get her to do her nails without raising suspicion! [sic]"
She added: "José convinced Diana that the celebration was for his parent’s wedding anniversary, before getting on his knees and revealing that it was all really for her! My girl organised HER OWN proposal party ... anyway, there were photographers & that’s how this shot was captured."
Pretty impressive right? If you ask me, Jenna should be a wedding photographer. I reckon she has the right skills for it.
