A baby monitor recorded a horrific accident that saw a tree suddenly crash through a roof inches away from an infant in its crib.
According to Inside Edition, the footage was captured by a baby monitor belonging to the Buchholtz family of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The video shows five-month-old Cannon Buchholtz lying peacefully in his bed while his parents, Kale and Courtney Buchholtz, slept nearby.
Take a look at the frightening incident in the video below:But the child's snoozing was suddenly interrupted when a large tree crashed through the roof of the house, causing extensive damage and waking up the young boy - yet leaving him without a scratch, per Inside Edition.
Cannon's godmother, Baylor Leonard, later uploaded the above footage of the ordeal to TikTok, and captioned it: "When a tree hits right over your room but your big brother's watching over you in heaven, this video is crazy, we're so lucky."
According to a later TikTok comment from the baby's mother, this is a reference to the couple's first child; who died prematurely after 27-weeks of gestation due to a stomach infection.
The video clearly resonated with other TikTok users and has now accrued over 12 million views, a million likes, and a further 18,000 comments as of the time of writing.
For instance, one person wrote to Courtney: "Thank GOD he was unharmed in that traumatic event! Bless his little soul. Something you'll never forget I'm sure. Hope you're doing okay too mama. Hugs!"
A second person commented: "I am so sorry this happened! The way he's just [lying] there so peacefully and then his sudden cry just broke my heart. So happy to see him safe!"
Then this commenter added: "Girl, I'm balling over here [...] I'm so relieved he's ok. I can't fathom all your emotions. I'm so sorry you had to experience this."
Finally, someone else stated: "Poor baby was sleeping sooooo good too [...] thank God he is ok. Prayers for you all during the repairs. [sic]"
Courtney later uploaded a number of other videos of the damage caused by the fallen tree to Facebook, and provided some additional information on the incident.
She captioned her post: "A very large tree fell through our house tonight 2 minutes after i put Cannon to bed.. running to get my baby under debris was one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced."
The mom continued: "We are okay && safe at my cousin’s house—our house, however, is unlivable right now. Trying to remember that all of our material things (once again) can be replaced. We did it once in 2016.. we’ll do it again. [sic}
Then she concluded: "I am so thankful that our lives were spared tonight.. our nightly bedtime prayers absolutely worked—but i will say.. i am 1000000% done.. defeated.
"Thank you to everyone who checked on us!! && thank you to our village who always shows up when we need it the most [...] Holding my sweet babe tight right now & counting my blessings. [sic]"
In a later interview with Inside Edition, Courtney testified: "Hearing him cry was a relief actually because I did fear the worst. I was terrified at the thought of losing him."
According to the outlet, the Buchholtz family is currently residing with friends while their home is repaired following the wanton destruction inflicted by the tree.
