Wedding vows are often considered the cornerstone of a marital ceremony, a verbal pact that outlines the principles upon which a lifelong partnership is built. Beyond the pomp and splendor of a wedding celebration, these simple yet profound words serve as a touchstone for the couple, reminding them of their commitment, loyalty, and love for each other.

The vows are often customized to mirror the unique relationship between the two individuals, thereby making them highly personal and emotionally rich. They may be traditional or modern, religious or secular, but regardless of the wording, they encapsulate the promises that will guide the couple through their shared journey ahead.

One groom, however, was completely stumped when it came to writing his vows, so he turned to the internet for help - with disastrous consequences.

Appearing in the first episode of the latest season of Married At First Sight UK, Polish-born Arthur Poremba tied the knot with the posh-loving Laura Vaughan.

Check out the groom's "inappropriate" comment during his vows:

As is clear from the title alone, the show centers around couples who marry as complete strangers from the moment they meet.

Naturally, this would add an extra layer of complexity to writing their vows. Laura, however, expected nothing short of perfection from her groom.

Earlier in the episode, Arthur shared that he got his vows from the internet. While rehearsing his vows with his best friend and brother, Arthur mentioned his intention to tell his soon-to-be wife, "I love you." Both his friend and brother immediately advised caution.

"Yeah, that’s a tricky one actually, to tell a stranger you love them," his friend pointed out. Arthur, however, maintained that it could be love at first sight.

"You could wait until you see her and then decide whether you want to say that or not," suggested his friend to which Arthur agreed.

Yet, when the moment arrived, Arthur did say "I love you" to Laura, despite only having just met her. Based on her reaction, it appeared that his bold declaration didn't sit well with his new wife.

A clip of the moment has found its way online since it first aired this week. Needless to say, people had plenty to say about it.

One commenter suggested that Arthur's words were not "appropriate" given the context of how he and his new bride had met. "His friend should have said it’s not appropriate to say I love you, or help him to find the right words." they said.

Another added: "Bit soon to say I love you. Bless him not sure much effort put in Im sure he will learn from it!"
