Anyone who has ever gotten married will know that once you and your partner get hitched, you'll inevitably end up swimming in wedding presents. It's often hard to tell what presently came from whom, and sometimes you can even go years without opening them all.
For instance, a couple has gone viral on social media this week after opening up a wedding gift nine years on from their marriage, and have taken to Facebook to share what was inside after all.
Take a look at this video about a couple who managed to rescue their wedding rings from their five-ravaged home:Kathy and Brandon, who hail from Michigan, tied the knot way back in September of 2007.
One of the gifts the newlywed pair received was from Kathy's great aunt and uncle, and with the gift was a set of strict instructions telling them both not to open the present until after they'd had their first disagreement.
The gift lay unopened for years. But when the couple was thinking of ideas for a wedding present of their own, they couldn't help but think of the unopened package. They decided to open it up at last, and share its contents in a post made on the Facebook page Love What Matters.
The mystery box contains two glasses of wine and some wine to drink with them, as well as a kind note from Kathy's aunt Allison and Uncle Bill.
The note reads:
"You get a pizza, a shrimp, and something you both like. Get a bath ready. Love, Aunt Allison."
In a lengthy post, Kathy captioned the pictures: "For 9 years (and three moves) that box sat high on a shelf in various closets gathering dust, yet it somehow taught us about tolerance, understanding, compromise, and patience.
"Our marriage strengthened as we became best friends, partners, and teammates. Today, we decided to open that box, because I finally had a realization. I realized that the tools for creating and maintaining a strong, healthy marriage were never within that box – they were within us. [sic]"
As you can see, their post quickly went viral and has now accrued over 23,000 likes, 4,100 shares, and 1,100 comments as of the time of writing.

One person who appreciated their post wrote: "My version for getting by an argument is to gift a bride and groom one stemmed wine glass and during an argument fill the glass with clear cold water and silently offer it to your partner...if they accept it you know you're forgiven."

Meanwhile, another person chimed in: "Both of you were so right it was never in the box, but in yourselves to make the marriage work. Also it was a Fabulous gift from your Great Aunt & Uncle. Wishing you both HAPPINESS ALWAYS. [sic]"

A fourth person wrote: "Sometimes it is important to step back and reconsider your decision. Sometimes it's worth giving another chance. Tolerance is what v need but v simply don't care. I'm highly moved by this post. [sic]"
So there you have it, if you're looking for inspiration for a wedding present, then why not follow the example set by great uncle Bill and great aunt Allison?
