A DoorDash driver has recently sparked a debate after he refused to walk up nine flights of stairs for a one-dollar tip.
Taking to Reddit, a user going by the name @karlallan posted a screenshot of an exchange between a DoorDash driver and a customer which has got people talking online.
The customer, who lived on the ninth floor of an apartment complex, was left confused after the driver sent them a picture of their food at the front desk.
"This is not the location I requested," they replied to the snap.
The driver responded back with: "Elevators are shut off" before following up with an apology.

However, instead of being understanding about the issue - which a lot of people would be in this case - the anonymous customer said: "They have stairs."
Now, nine flights of stairs is a chore for any normal person, let alone for a driver who has been delivering food all night so understandably they responded back with: "Ha! I have a heart condition. But even if I didn't, your dollar tip wouldn't come close to being enough for me to climb 9 flights."
The thread was reposted to TikTok in a video where it has since been viewed over 500,000 times.
Thousands of social media users weighed in on the discussion.
"Come on, don't order delivery if you know the elevator is broken and you live 9 floors up. And if so at least give an appropriate tip," urged this user.
While another agreed, saying: "I wouldn't do that for a $20 tip."
"As a human i would never expect a dasher to walk up 9 flights of stairs even if i tipped well," said this TikToker.
And this person recalled from their own personal experiences: "I’m a dasher and I wouldn’t go. He/she was nice to accept the order with $1 tip. I wouldn’t."
"Lol no. Tip aside, I’m not going up 9 flights of stairs for a food delivery," added another.
However, others pointed out that it was simply part of the job they signed up for.
"If you accept the order then yes you should but dashers won’t and complain about tipping on social media."
This user stated: "Yep. It's my job I chose it."
And this person even offered another perspective, writing: "I would have just because it could have been a senior citizen."
