Everything you need to know about Keanu Reeves' new girlfriend
Fans of John Wick star Keanu Reeves were rocked to their foundations by the news that, after being single for decades, the actor has a new girlfriend.
Keanu (who once described himself in an interview as "a lonely guy") showed up to the red carpet of LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles with a certain lady on his arm. The paparazzi snapped photos, and once they hit social media, everyone was talking about them.
His new squeeze turned out to be his longtime business collaborator, the 46-year-old artist Alexandra Grant, and the pictures taken of the pair at the event clearly show sparks flying between them.
But who exactly is Alexandra Grant? How long have Keanu and she known each other? Are they going steady, or is this something more serious? Fans have a million questions, and while we can't answer all of them, we can at least tell you a little bit about who Keanu's special lady is.
According to The Daily Mail, Alexandra Grant hails from Ohio, but grew up in various parts of the world. She's been working in the arts since graduating from Swarthmore College in 1994.
The couple first met in 2011, and since then she's often worked on various projects with Keanu. For instance, Grant provided the art for the books Ode To Happiness and Shadows - two volumes of poetry written by Keanu himself.
Alexandra's art has been exhibited in various prestigious spaces across the world, such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Galerie Gradiva in Paris, and The Harris Lieberman Gallery in New York.
In 2008 she founded the philanthropic grantLOVE project, which produces and sells original artworks and editions to benefit and find lesser-known artistic projects.
Then, in 2017, Grant and Keanu founded publishing company X Artists’ Books together. According to its official website, the company focuses on unusual collaborations and books which "don’t really have a place because they’re between genres."
Watch Keanu talk about his crush on Speed co-star Sandra Bullock in an interview with Ellen:
Talking to the LA Weekly about her life and work, Grant stated: "'Artist is the best word for all the things that I love to do and have been doing pretty consistently since I was a child: reading, staring into space, daydreaming, inventing symphonic-scale projects whether a chemistry experiment or growing seeds into plants, finding meaning in the patterns of bathroom tiles and cracks in the ceiling."
She continued: "I grew up in part in Mexico City, Washington, DC, and Paris, moving between languages and cultures. Los Angeles felt like home from the moment I first arrived in 1995, especially the diversity of people, idioms, foods, and plants (like jacaranda and bougainvillea). There’s an incredible work ethic here – many people are creative and entrepreneurial."
So there you have it: it seems as though Keanu's new woman is every bit as kind, intelligent, and talented as he is. That's good news for the couple, especially since the internet cannot get over the fact that Keanu has an age-appropriate girlfriend.
