Life in lockdown doesn't mean that romance should be put on pause. And with Valentine's Day fast approaching, couples have a unique opportunity; to get creative, and eschew tradition to show their loved ones just how much they care.

While we won't be able to splash out on a candle-lit restaurant meal, or a long staycation, M&S Food is here to prove that love amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic doesn't have to be any less special. For some inspiration, Ruth and Leanne shared their love story and Valentine's Day plans as part of VT's collaboration with M&S, titled: Love Always Wins.

Ruth and Leanne met at a house party seven years ago. While Ruth had just gotten out of a relationship, and wasn't looking for anything serious - Leanne laughs that she must have done something right: "Here we are, engaged, very much in love, and we have a really cute dog called Franklin," she says.

And the couple are no strangers to spending lots of time together. As well as travelling the world, they also work together! This, naturally, made lockdown life a little easier for the pair. As Leanne says - while 2020 wasn't a great year - Ruth still managed to make it as "amazing" as possible. From filling their days with walks, workouts, planning their wedding - and even doing a TikTok dance with Leanne's grandma - they came together to prove that love can flourish in even the most unprecedented of years.

Now, to pay it forward on the most romantic day of the year, Leanne wanted to pull out all the stops to show Ruth just how much she values her, and the support she had provided in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. And what better way to do so than with the number one gifting provider, M&S?

She picked up some treats from M&S, including flowers, bubbly, and some all-important Percy Pigs. Of course, Ruth was overjoyed - especially with her sweet treats, and all the decorations that Leanne put up to make it even more special. "She's so thoughtful and always spoiling me so this Valentine's day I want to show how much I care," Leanne said. And mission accomplished!
