A man has taken to social media this week to share how his date ghosted him for a very shallow reason.

The Twitter user, whose name appears to be Jacques, posted a screenshot of a conversation he recently had with someone on a dating app.

"Hey man, sorry for not messaging until now," his potential love interest wrote to him.

Jacques' date then continued:

"I enjoyed our date last week but when you said the phrase: 'put my thinking cap on' it kinda gave me the ick so I wasn't really interested in pursuing things.

"Also, do you know of any, like, soul-funk hip hop disco kind of vibes DJs in Manchester?"

A sarcastic Jacques captioned his post: "Ah right ok then," in response.

It wasn't long before thousands of Twitter users gave their input on the shallow response, with the original tweet soon racking up more than 128,000 likes, and more than 4,300 retweets, at the time of writing.

For example, one person wrote: "Please say you replied with: 'I’ll have to put my thinking cap on.'"

Another person then shared a story of their own, writing: "Lmfaoooooo definitely had a man say: 'you're too smart and eventually you're going to think you're smarter than me, this isn't going to work.' lol ummmm ok. [sic]"

Then this commenter chimed in: "This is honestly the worst. I cannot believe people like this exist. I am actually astounded."

And a sarcastic fourth person tweeted: "Hey girl sorry for not messaging until now.

"I enjoyed our date last week but when you said the phrase 'also do you know of any like soul funk hip hop disco kinda vibes DJs in Manchester' it kinda gave me the ick so I wasn’t really interested in pursuing things.

They added: "Also do you know any thinking cap companies?"

Finally, this commenter opined: "Kinda gave me the ick' is a weirder phrase than 'putting my thinking cap on.'"

So, was this person right to stop seeing Jacques? Or have they majorly overreacted? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
