Let's face it, in every household, there's usually one person who pulls their weight considerably more than everybody else.
Whether it's loading the dishwasher, taking the trash out, or doing a round with the vacuum cleaner - very often, the chores will fall heavily on one unfortunate family member or housemate.
In one particular household in the UK, a mom was very much aware that she was that family member.
But after reaching her limit, she decided to set up her own experiment in which she stopped doing all the chores just to see how her family reacted. And the results, documented on her Twitter account, were pretty hilarious!
Taking to the platform, the mom, who goes by Miss Potkin, explained: "Two days ago, I decided to stop doing the dishes. I make all the dinners and I am tired of having to do all the cleaning too.
"SINCE THEN this pile has appeared and at some point, they are going to run out of spoons and cups and plates. Who will blink first? Not me."
Three days into the experiment, Miss Potkin's family began running out of cutlery and crockery - but still, no one thought to start loading the dishwasher.
She wrote: "They’ve used the last of the big bowls and they’ve run out of spoons. No one is saying anything about the big pile but I can hear their brains ticking. No, family, I will not be loading the dishwasher today."
Later it appeared that some progress was being made as a member of Miss Potkin's household was snapped emptying the trash.
Only, Miss Potkin's excitement at the progress was short-lived.
She explained: "Spoke too soon. Irish has resorted to making tea with the baby’s weaning spoon and it using the emergency cup."
The mom also revealed that as a result of her laundry strike, piles of dirty clothes were forming all over the house - and it's not a pretty sight!
Other memorable sightings in Miss Potkin's experiment include a lone sausage that lay in a pan on the cooker for days and the toilet paper being completely used up in the bathroom - with no one thinking to replace it.
However, again, there were signs of improvement as Miss Potkin excitedly shared a photo of her partner loading at least one item in the dishwasher.
As the Twitter thread increasingly gained traction, Miss Potkin explained to her fellow Twitter users: "This is a lesson in wanting to be heard and respected and not having to repeat yourself when things slip. We're navigating the day-today in extraordinary times.
Defending the experiment, she added: "For me, the past two days have been funnier than anything else. I think we're all entitled to run our own experiments, be amused, push a situation to its limit if we so choose.
"No one needs to be lectured by those that have failed to see the silly joy in what's happening here."
In any case, Miss Potkin's partner seemed to have learned his lesson as he replaced the toilet roll so that there was now plenty of it. He also finally switched the dishwasher on and was even seen cleaning the floor.
A number of people have since responded to her experiment, with many unable to understand how the family could run out of cutlery and cookware when they have an actual dishwasher.
One wrote: "At first I thought you didn't have a dishwasher which I can kind of (but not really) understand the reluctance to do dishes. This is incredible."
Another said: "Y'all had a dishwasher to begin with??"
Well, hopefully, this is a lesson learned for the Potkin household - everyone should be doing their bit!
