A mother has sparked a debate online after sharing videos of her six-month-old baby eating a bloody steak, and it's safe to say some people aren't happy.
There seems to be a constant debate about what infants should and should not be eating, with different generations and cultures having various ways of raising their kids.
One thing that seems to be widely agreed upon is the need for milk from the mother or other sources during the first stage of life.

Transitioning onto solid foods is a big step in a baby's life, with most parents opting for mushed-up vegetables or something along those lines - but one mother decided to cut out the middle man and handed her baby a chunk of steak.
TikTok user Katie (@mrskatieharley) shared a video that has since been viewed over 200,000 times where her six-month-old child happily chews on a steak.
The caption reads: "People loooove [sic] giving parenting advice to people who didn’t ask," and the text on the video thanks all the people who have criticized the mother's parenting methods for viewing the video.
Naturally, seeing a baby eat a chunk of rare steak is quite bizarre, but that's not to say that it didn't go without praise.

One concerned viewer said: "Cool but you should probably cook it a bit more she’s a baby…no hate," while others added that the steak posed a choking risk.
Though it appears that many people support the mother's decisions, and judging by the comments it seems that quite a few people give their children steak from an early age.

"It’s good for them and encourages jaw development and strength," one person said, with another adding: "Finally another mom that does this !!! My baby was underweight at 4 months old and refused baby food and her doctor told me to try regular food."
The mother posted a follow-up video of her baby one year on from the viral video, and it would appear that the infant still enjoys chowing down on a juicy steak.
Would you let your child eat this at such an early age? Let us know in the comments!

A mom has sparked a parenting debate online after admitting to giving her six-month-old baby daughter a McDonald's for a "treat".
Now, despite many of us getting hooked on the fast-food giants from a young age thanks to their Happy Meals, many parents will differ on what age you should first feed your child the convenient meals.
But 18-year-old Jamie-Leigh Gibson from Antrim, Northern Ireland, has revealed to The Sun's Fabulous magazine how her now 16-month-old daughter loves the salty treat, and has done since she was just six months old.
The mom, who is currently seven months pregnant with her second baby, revealed to the publication that she faced a fierce backlash after she announced on social media that baby Aniya loves a Maccies.

She wrote: "My one-year-old was eating McDonald’s at six months… she loves herself a handful of chips and a burger."
And in response to the criticism, Jamie-Leigh said that her daughter is perfectly healthy, and even provided a doctor's note to prove her point.
The law student revealed that she was inspired to speak out after another mom revealed her one-year-old daughter tried KFC. Jamie-Leigh told Fabulous:
"No-one in my family and friend group said anything rude or mean but on the comment section of the KFC post a lot of older woman weren't impressed that so many of us in the comments had given our kids fast food before they were toddlers but it didn't bother me as I don't know them personally."
Reinforcing that daughter Aniya "is happy and isn't showing any health issues", Jamie-Leigh said: "I don't think people who don't know you should have a say in what your child eats."
The mom explained how she used to work at a Burger King shortly after her daughter's birth, and during her breaks, Jamie-Leigh's mom would bring Aniya to be breastfed.

Jamie-Leigh then said that during her feedings, Aniya would also be given fries to snack on.
"I never had salt on them then she got her first tooth at five months so we gave her half of a plain kids burger and she was eating away at it," the mom said, adding:
"It's not what she has all the time but, even now at 16 months, when she does get it she prefers the burger bap and chips dipped in sauce as a treat if we go out shopping."
Many of Jamie-Leigh's friends have expressed their concerns over Aniya choking, but the mom says she'll be fine because her daughter eats vegetables and fruit too.
In addition, Jamie-Leigh was adamant her was getting plenty of nutrients as she is still breastfeeding.
Overall, the 18-year-old stressed that "McDonald's is just a treat."
"Aniyah loves McDonald's even now she enjoys when she gets a Happy Meal," Jamie-Leigh said.
However, in the comments section of the article, the mom had sparked quite the debate.
One reader said: "Its your baby do as you please although I would not feel comfortable doing the same. Everyone is different and thats ok no judgement here. [sic]"
Another reader commented: "As long as there was no salt on the chips and it isn’t every day it’s not a problem."
But other readers weren't as understanding with Jamie-Leigh's decision, with one person writing: "Irresponsible and ignorant. What a child eats in their early years sets their eating habits. Aside of course from the excess sugar and sodium content of the fries and burger (not to mention sauce)."
A fourth commented: "I have never had a child, but if I had, I would never ever give them McDonalds - full of fat and salt - stupid woman! Just far too lazy to cook decent food! [sic]"
And another said: "Disgrace, not a way to start a baby's diet of burger and [chips]. All boils down to Lazy parenting. Can't cook won't cook."
So, is this something all parents are guilty of or would you wait until later on before treating your kids to a McDonald's? Let us know in the comments section.
A woman has admitted to feeding her daughter's 12-year-old vegan friend meat because she appeared to be "malnourished".
Taking to Reddit's infamous "Am I The A**hole" thread - where users share their stories and others vote on who was in the wrong - the Redditor, who goes by the username 'believeblackbodies' on the site, wanted to know if she was right to allow the girl to eat non-plant-based meals - despite her parents' wishes.
She explained: "My daughter and her friend, M, are both 12 years old and like to have sleepovers every now and then. M's family maintains a strict vegan diet where she isn't even allowed to drink milk.
"Her parents are nice people although a bit on the neurotic side. M is a bright young girl and she's a good friend to my daughter but I noticed how much smaller and paler she is compared to my daughter. I think it's likely tied to her family's diet."

So, thinking M's paleness was linked to her plant-based diet, the mom has taken it upon herself to prepare a big meaty meal for her whenever she stays over.
The Reddit user recalled: "Last weekend, I made some cheeseburgers and steak for them on the grill with a big glass of milk. M absolutely loves it and always politely asks for more (which I happily provide).
"For snacks, I give them some of my venison jerky. For breakfast, I typically make a big plate of scrambled eggs and bacon again with a big glass of milk."
According to the meat-eating mom, M always manages to wolf down whatever she makes for her despite her small size. She also claimed that the girl always left their home with a "healthy glow".
She concluded: "I know I probably shouldn't be doing this but I think M is a bit malnourished (nothing against vegans or anything). She knows she'll get in big trouble if she tells her folks. (I think she fibs a bit to her parents about what she eats)."
The consensus on Reddit is that the mom definitely is the "a**hole" in this situation, with many reminding her that it is not for her to decide what the girl can and can't eat.
One person argued: "She’s being quite disrespectful and irresponsible. The girl could have a medical condition she doesn’t know about. She definitely needs to stop and have a chat with the parents."

Another said: "Adults shouldn’t be asking children to keep secrets. Full stop. Also, there’s a good chance that kid is going to have gut issues because they aren’t used to that huge amount of dairy."

A third wrote: "There is a massive power imbalance there. Kids are often taught that you be a polite guest and don’t argue with the adult in charge. A lot of kids at 12 would not at all be comfortable speaking up for themselves. [Original poster] is the a**hole."

Social media offers us all an intriguing window into other people's lives - we get to peek behind the curtain and see how other people live, and often this can be far more distressing than it is enlightening. Indeed, there are plenty of occasions where people share things on social media which shock and outrage them; when the original footage it stems from was intended as nothing more than a light-hearted joke.
Take the following Snapchat video for example, which shows a young mother feeding her little baby from what looks like a bottle of red wine. The baby is obviously too young to be drinking alcohol, but there doesn't appear to be any wine in the bottle when the child was miming sipping from it, and the child's parent seems to consider it all a big joke.
However, the video, which apparently hails from Lanarkshire in Scotland, has left many social media users disgusted and angered by what they view as an example of neglectful parenting. One person who viewed the footage commented: "I’m actually lost for words at that, it’s absolutely disgusting." Another commenter added: "Absolutely vile to do that to a child, poor little girl. Me heart breaks for her."
On the other hand, some viewers chose to defend the woman in the video, and have pointed out that there is no evidence in the 7-second clip to suggest that the child was actually imbibing alcohol. One commenter wrote: "This isn’t wine as the child would obviously have a reaction to the taste which she didn’t. This is water or juice in this bottle and the mother is just looking for attention."
However, it's not all bad when it comes to video of children on social media. Last week, a heartwarming picture went viral, showing a man at a doctor's office holding a woman's baby while she filled out some complicated paperwork. The adorable image was shared thousands of times by people who were touched by the good Samaritan's kindness and altruism.

Commenting on the incident, Natasha Wilson (who took the original picture) stated in a later interview with CBS: "He loved on the baby as it was his own. I knew that he never interacted with this child before...it was just really really heartwarming ... It was touching for me because my children are biracial. It was heartwarming, especially because he was an older white man, just completely not thinking anything of race."
She added: "Just loved on this baby as if it was his baby. He completely saw nothing of colour, and neither did that mom. I see both sides of everything. It's just not very often that you see compassion for a complete stranger, and especially across races ... It just takes each one of us to teach our children there is no colour, there is no hate."
We still don't know whether or not there was any wine in the bottle on that particular day. But parents: heed this warning. Don't let your kids near alcohol. Seriously.
A young mother has shocked TikTok users with her unconventional parenting methods, which involve allowing her infant to eat sticks, rocks, sand, and dirt.
The 22-year-old, who goes by @comingupfern on the video-sharing app, told her followers in one particular post that she lets her one-year-old son eat sand and rocks in order to boost his immune system.
In the video, @comingupfern, who refers to herself as a "vegan free birth VBAC mama", said she is happy to let her little one eat what most would consider inedible items - as long as they are vegan.
She said in the clip: "Why I let my exclusively breastfed baby eat sticks, rock, sand, dirt, and unsanitized shopping carts. In the last couple hundred years, the allopathic industry has taken the world by storm.
"This did not happen by accident. It happened after a series of billion-dollar campaigns intended to shift the public’s perception on health.
"I do not fear bacteria. In fact, I welcome it. I trust nature and my baby. It is not a coincidence babies have this instinct while they are breastfeeding."
The video, in which the comments are switched off, also contains footage of her infant putting sand-covered fingers in his mouth as well as rocks, and a wood chip given to him by his mother.
A ton of people on TikTok and on other social media platforms have shared their thoughts on her unusual parenting techniques.
One person wrote: “Yes.. and I let my baby play with knives and screws, cause I trust my baby...
“WHAT Maybe the soil is contaminated, or people and animals might have pissed or spit there, parasites, poisonous plants.. A crazy idea: kids should play outdoors, but maybe not put everything they find in their mouths.”

Another said: “I think we’re all aware of natural immunity, kids need to get dirty and whatnot. I probably wouldn’t let my kid EAT dirt and rocks and wood.
“But I’m also not gonna make them sanitize their hands after touching every surface. Somewhere in between is a happy medium. But shopping carts? I dunno that doesn’t fit the narrative to me.”

A third wrote: “Very dangerous and extremely unwise! There are leaves and flowers that are deadly.
“Some cause rashes. Many things are contaminated with pesticides or animal excrement. If she wouldn’t put it in her mouth she shouldn’t let it go in her baby’s mouth.”
