A secret service agent's daughter has taken to TikTok to share safety tips for women that "100% saved [her] life".
Lauren Bell, from Pennsylvania, said that because of her dad's background, he has "always" taught her "situational awareness" and to "question everything" and "question everybody".
She shared a story that happened back in 2014 at her local Marshalls store, a mile away from her home, and explained that because of its close proximity she felt a "false sense of security".
Watch her story below:As she went around the store, she said she saw the man in a number of sections with a rope tie in his hand, then again at the checkout where he was purchasing the ties.
The TikTok user said she noticed a "presence" and turned to face the man, remembering her dad's advice which was "clothes can be removed, hair can be changed but birthmarks and tattoos are always permanent."
Lauren decided that it would be wise to delay when she left the store because of the man - a process which took her around 10 to 15 minutes, giving him plenty of time to leave.
When she went to leave the store, she discovered that her gut was right, and the man was waiting outside and immediately began to follow her.
He told Lauren that he had a money-making opportunity for her and that he wanted her to come to his car to learn more.
She knew that something was wrong, but she didn't want to go to her car in case he was able to trace her address using her license plate, so she was torn about what to do.
When Lauren saw another car in the car park, she ran towards the driver, and it was only then that the man left her alone.
Explaining how her dad's advice helped her avoid a sticky situation, she said: "Thank God that I was aware of what was going on in the store when he was following me and then [I made] better decisions to not go with him."
Lauren's story did not go unnoticed on TikTok and quickly acquired thousands of views from women who thanked her for sharing her father's helpful advice.
Lauren has used her TikTok platform to post a number of other videos relating to women's safety including "inspirational quotes" from her dad which include "Never turn your back towards the door", "Nothing good comes after 11 pm", and "Never take a jog before 8 am."
Her dad also advises women to "order drinks that come in bottles, they are harder to drug," "men don't ask for help" and "if you think you are being followed, make four right turns".
